If the WVU policy were the persuade a school like OSU to allow alcohol in certain limited instances, I could very well see the rest of the member schools (except Baylor) fall like dominoes.

But WVU's policy isn't unique in the Big 12, or at least it wouldn't have been if Colorado had hung around.  IIRC, CU sold brewskies at bball games.  Not sure about football games.

I guess it's possible that someday we change the policy, but I bet it will be after any members of our current administration are here.

So, in light of the "no alcohol rule" revelation, KSU should simply throw off the shackles and let the beer flow like wine.

I also want a members club for Ahearn donors (think Livestrong Park) and/or GA bleachers (think Wrigley).

this should be true of basketball and football.  As Luck stated, everybody is getting crunk face in the parking lot anyway.  might as well have them buy their alcohol from the school instead of Rickel's.

The 49ers are going to show NFL Red Zone in their new stadium before games and sell alcohol and food so they can get a cut of the tailgating dollars.

Why couldn't we do that?  Show some other Big 12 game or ESPN gameday or something before the games, let people drink and buy our crappy food?

The MU allows alcohol sales in pres box thing is called the Scotchy Exception.  Look it up.

Guy is retired now and I am pretty sure I heard him tell 810 that he won't be caught dead back in that crap hole of a stadium.  That may have just been the need for another scotch talking, but it may also be an indication that they are retracting the exception.   :dunno:

My guess is there may be state laws involved, but I'm not certain of that.  I think the sports campus is still considered part of K-State campus legally and thus the areas where alcohol may be served is controlled heavily.  My source is someone who may or may not have stolen booze from the Library.

Kansas law prohibits the sale of alcoholic beverages on state property, that has been the hurdle.  They did get an exception for the east side suites under the argument that that is not state owned property persay, but leased to private individuals.

With WVU's sales topping $700k last year, you can bet other Big 12 schools will be looking into it.   And with the loosening of Kansas alcohol regulations, it may be feasible.

The press box is on state property.  So is the legends room.  So is every facility at any university sports facility in Kansas.

So, this isn't the hurdle.

If we wanted to sell devil water to the unwashed masses, we could.

I stand corrected.   Now I'm mad that we were always told that was the reason if there wasn't a law.

Here is the university policy:

If we're going to sell booze at games I hope we also build a giant infirmary for all the innocent people who get stabbed on Ft. Riley Day fwiw imo.

Well goddammed I'll be dumbfounded... snicking mixed drinks and beer like you stole it and missing out on major money.  Just think how many recuits we could have bought with the extra stash.
We need more "Prince" party's to fund recuiting.

I was being serious.  Is that notion absurd?  That they could turn the dining center into a restaurant type thing for several hours during and after games?

Yes, it will be used as a premium hospitality space for donors on game days.

Hey while you guys were busy arguing over some pipe dream about whether or not we'll be able to sell Busch Lights in the stadium, this guy was busy pounding Busch Lights and digging out huge holes and wearing this shirt.

I got absolutely wrecked in the Tiger Club at the EMAW game 4 years ago.  There is a ton of alcohol sales there, all game long.

I just can't think of anything that I care about less than whether or not I can go pay $10 for a beer at a Cats football game. Good grief, guys, it's just not a big deal.

You can smell the Busch heavy leeching off of David McMullen.  The reason the camera didn't pan below his shoulders is because he was smoking a pall mall filterless down to his knuckles.

See you at BT's, Davey!
