Will the "cool" Pinstripe Bowl K-State be on the new field at BSFS?

Yes . . . it's cool.  Currie Prevails.
NO . . . OB Wins again.

One sumbitch aTm twitter account said it looks like a high school stade  :shakesfist:

They have one of the most impressive Kroger's posing as a football stadium I've ever seen

Per KSO.  The initial round of the Building Champions campaign is fully funded.  Over $100 million.

So on top of the Shammy the newest indoor facility, vball arena and Olympic training center will be a go.

$340 million in facilities projects over the last 7 years.

Gotta say, nice work Gene

Hell yeah, not a fan of Gene at all, but pretty impressive there.

Assuming plans are finalized for the location of the indoor (east parking lot?)

I don't know.   Some are even hinting around that the fund raising was so successful that they move on to converting the old football indoor into a new indoor track facility as soon as the new football indoor is completed.

If we could do something close to this, we'd be in the rotation to host Big 12 conference meets.

We were able to host when it was in Ahearn, I'd hope we'd build something at least as good as Ahearn. Iowa State hosted a couple of years ago and their facility is a two pack of ass.

When was the last time we hosted in Ahearn? Surely it was a while ago?

Either way, Ahearn wasn't good (and ISU's facility isn't much better). The hope/goal would be something good enough for the league meet plus something that might be able to fetch teams for another decent meet during the season (the current meets in Ahearn are, if we're being kind, less than stellar as it relates to the level of competition). It may not be any longer, but, for a while, Iowa State was one of the primary "last chance" indoor meets around the country. It would be nice for K-State to enter into that picture.

Agree with all of this. I feel like we've hosted the Big 12 in the last decade, but I'm old so it's possible the years are ruining together.
I wonder how many indoor facilities are a part of the outdoor facility like ours will be. Certainly there are some logistics that we will be able to take care of with the two tracks at the same location.

Damn.

What would that leave for projects? Just Bramlage?.... the first base side of Tointon? Possible indoor tennis/soccer practice pavilion?

put a roof between east stadium and the new practice facility, make that entire side an indoor concourse.

Talk about a wind tunnel. You'd rip off arms with doors open on both ends in the winter.

Help me out here... If you already have the field itself (turf) attached to your football facilities AND an indoor practice field - why do you need another entire field taking up space again?  Some of my fondest memories are of stumbling into or out of the stadium where that is in the rendering.

I don't understand that either. It made sense back when the playing field was grass. However, now that the turf doesn't wear out, and you will have two existing fields (one indoor and one outdoor) I don't see the need for a third but it's not a deal breaker for me. I just want the sky bridge across Kimball.

Agreed. I still don't understand why it's not located on the North side of Kimball in the existing ag lot.

i think the idea of a separate outdoor practice field is to protect the turf from getting worn out like our old turf did.

And we will be much poorer in whatever conference we're in a few years from now. We'll need to extend the life of our crap.

Even just using the existing spaces for the things, the indoor facility should be generally where the practice field is in that pic and connected in some way to Vanier or whatever it's called now so that people can go from one to the other all indoors.

Then if an additional outdoor practice field is necessary, it could go directly east of the indoor facility, and in a way where players can get to all the way from Vanier indoors.  Or if we want to get crazy, build the indoor facility in a way where it could have an outdoor field on its roof (helps defeat spies!).

And then there's no standalone building blocking the path to the stadium and making for bottlenecks to get in and out.
