I enjoyed Earth Science class in 9th grade and 13 years later I can still name all 5 circumpolar constellations, muthafuckas!   

Mr. Stramel taught a lot and obviously cares about science, but the dude has ALLLLWAYS been a loose cannon like this.  I mean, in 1997 a classmate made a website on g-d ANGELFIRE quoting all of his classroom blowups; he's lucky his career is reaching its twilight stages just as video phones are popping up.  Had he gone into teaching 25 years later I think he probz wouldn't have lasted very long.  Again, this is ugly for both sides.  But the ugliest part is definitely that girl's hair in front of the camera.

I may have gotten a little carried away.

But the video was a good illustration why corporal punishment should still be allowed. Just because it's a little archaic doesn't mean it's not effective. Obviously the kids in that video have no respect for authority. I was always terrified of getting in trouble at school because I knew there would be consequences at home. A number of kids in that class (seems like a room full of troublemakers/flunkies) probably don't have anybody at home that gives a crap about their education or behavior. And trips to the principal's office don't bother these kids in the least. So while rusty would paint me as a monster for suggesting that kids get swatted, I think it would be effective. Long story short the guy should not have gone off like that but those kids are clearly a mess. After 30 years of putting up with that kind of crap, I would be ready to pop a beer and deploy the slide as well.

I think they have a shitty teacher too, totally agree. Benny what does this guy teach anyways? It seems like that particular class was only for the kids that suck at school and probably smoke cigarettes.

btw I'm not trying to come off as high and mighty. I gave my respect to teachers that I thought deserved it and was also a little bastard to others. I would not want to be a teacher. For practical reasons, it is so difficult to draw a line - it is much simpler just to not allow an adult teacher to physically strike a child. I don't know what you're saying would have been appropriate here..A spanking? Maybe a smack in the mouth like Ira suggested? Closed fists? Why would one OK and not the others?

For moral reasons, perhaps because we should protect the rights of our youth? If you think that makes me a bleeding heart, you are a complete jackass, and I really don't give a crap.
