"Qualifying risk, sure. Has that ever stopped us before?"

Nope  :dubious:

I'd much rather take a chance on a qualifying risk like Ivy, then recruit a 2* loser who will assuredly make it on campus.

and then when the qualifying risk doesn't make it on campus, the non-scholarship preferred walk-on goes on to be all-league and lead the nation in sacks.  Booya!!  That's how it's done LHCBS style!!

Stub Rob scooped them that McDainel is down to 2 and will commit within 1-2 weeks.  However, Gates got jealous and immediately deleted Rob's post then later posted his own update.  Gates is trying to play the "I never saw his post" card, but it's about as believeable as "we don't know where the receipt came from, it just showed up at the AD office".

He won't be a corner, average cover skills but insanely aggressive. Safety with an attitude and exactly what we need.

So, no commits?  That's surprising.

McDaniel is basically a commit. Down to K-State and NU for Clink

Not that I ever want to defend out staff regarding recruiting (and they suck plenty) but its barely been 24 hours since we won- lots of the guys stay on sunday. There's no reason in the world to take the lack of a commit on a sunday after a saturday night game as a bad sign, sheesh.

I agree with much of this post but it wasn't exactly a night game.

Not necessarily a bad sign, just not a good sign that the staff didn't close the deal on the visit.

Not necessarily a bad sign, just not a good sign that the staff didn't close the deal on the visit.

JUCO kids tend to commit less on visits than HS kids.

They know they have one shot left, so they go back, talk with the parents, talk with the coaches, etc.

I think the fact that we're in the final two for both of these guys is a big deal.  It doesn't look like NU wants McDaniel, and it doesn't look like Clink is interested in ISU.  That may play a factor.  Hopefully, it does.

I want to hear more stuff about how we shouldn't take a 4* high school defensive end though. That was making a lot of sense  :flush:

I think they must've hit a 4 instead of 2 or they are letting DJamer Wally grade their recruits now also.

Report on Neal:

Size-Strength-Speed
Neal possesses good size for either a safety or a wide receiver. Tall with room to add even more bulk as he matures. Plays with very good strength as he will hit and extend through ball carriers. As a runner, he is strong and runs through arm tackles. Plays with decent speed. More explosive as a safety than showing breakaway speed at wide receiver.

Ball Skills
Plays the ball well as a safety and catches it very effectively as a wide receiver. He will catch the ball with his hands and at its high point.

Versatility
Plays offense and defense equally effectively and his toughness and body type strongly suggest he should be a very effective special teams contributor.

Big Play Ability
Makes more big plays with big hits on defense than he makes extraordinary plays on offense. He will explode through the ball carrier as a tackler. He is punishing.

Bottom Line
Neal should most likely be a sought after prospect by mid-level BCS schools as he is athletic enough to play on either side of the ball. He is a quality wide receiver and might have a chance to be a high-level safety.
