so apparently smitty is trying to poach Melvison Hartfield from us. He now has an offer from Arky

 :bwpopcorn:

Kinda figured he was a bit of a pud recruit, not exciting in the least.  Seems like if Bielema likes him,  he must be better than I thought.  Pretty good example of why I don't get too worked up about recruiting.
i get worked up about our "recruiting strategy" being copied/mirrored by other programs in our conference and region that have more "resources" than us, and also hiring our best young recruiters doesn't sit too well with me either.

Guess I trust Bill's ability to identify DITRs...   I seriously doubt he was the first person to ever think a player was better than his ranking.   Stars are great but I would assume every coach in the country is trying to recruit the best possible players.   Whether the recruit is a right fit guy or just a great player guy,  everyone wants the best possible players.   I doubt Saban ever says:  "I really think that guy could help our program but Rivals says he's only a 3 star, so eff him."   We take risks on fringe players because we kinda have to ,  because our classes aren't already filled with kids that are projected to be studs.   Can't argue too much with the results but I doubt too many programs are going to be emulating that strategy.

Michael Smith's email will be posted soon on the Arkansas website...

I don't know...Snyder gave this guy every opportunity he's received from his playing days to coaching.  A chance to make a great living and do what he enjoys.  This is how he pays Snyder back...going after the committed players just days before signing date.

When that email becomes available I think many people should let him know how much he's "appreciated".

I'm with ya here hatter, sometimes you go way overboard with these things, but right now, it's time to go "FULL HATTER" on smitty...

Texas Christian University coach Gary Patterson has been hired as Kansas State's 34th football coach, multiple sources have confirmed to GoPowercat.com.  Patterson replaces Ron Prince, who was fired Wednesday. - Tim Fitzgerald   Nov, 7, 2008

Has Michael Smith sold his house in Manhattan yet?

I don't want anyone to do anything.  Obviously you would never be caught, but we are above that.

I think I'm less pissed about Michael Smith leaving than the culture within our program that continually causes our assistants to make lateral moves elsewhere.

He thinks he's making a step up in his career, coaching for a better program, and making more money.

The fact that he thinks none of those things are attainable at K-State is what I'm really pissed about, if anything.

I also couldn't care less if he's going to recruit one of the players he brought to K-State.  There's no fair play in recruiting.

What the eff is an angry e-mail going to prove?

I was pretty shocked also, trying to steal a low end 3 star commit. Arkansas must be desperate

Since he didn't qualify this semester his LOI is voided I believe. I'm sure KU will try to get him qualified this semester and then resign him. Would think Weis is trying to keep this real quiet to avoid other coaches coming in

teammates were asking on twitter when he was going to be on campus. he said "in like 2 weeks" then started telling them to DM him. he has since deleted those tweets. he is still in CA. he still tweets a lot of ku stuff, but has tweeted ole miss things as recently as the 20th.
