I remember trying to convince Curtis Kitchen that Sams was the best recruit we've landed since Freeman back in June, and that he was the best pure Dual Threat QB we've recruited since Roberson.

He's going to be amazing.

I wonder if those guys are recruiting him to be a QB?

Probably not, but I don't care.  The kid's raw; I get that.  We're willing to work with him for three years for the two that he'll be amazing.

He's by far the most exciting recruit. I was just wondering if that's how we got him or not. Also, it's hilarious how Sams was disregarding late offers, yet that's what Snyder wants to go to full time. Granted, Snyder doesn't want to do all last minute offers, but still.

"tragically ironic", I think, is the descriptor you were looking for here.   :dubious:
"Son. This is why we are wildcats. Hard work, pride, the heart of this country. And if that's not enough for you, you can just move to California with your punk friends."

Snyder didn't say he wants to go to last minute offers, he said he wasn't happy with offering early.  Two completely different things, Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!).  If you look at some of our early offers (Stiverson) I wonder if we would have even offered after his mediocre senior season.  Now, we're actually bringing in some decent players but we're handicapped by the limited number of schollies available.

Stiverson was actually a relatively late offer (August).  We had given out tons of other offers before he got his 'ship.  The recruits that committed early are actually quite nice - Whitehair, Sams, Lockett, Harvill, Cathey.

I'm wondering if his sudden reluctance to offering early was Tuggle related...

I even mentioned this, "Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!)". I know reading comprehension is hard for you, but get your crap together. It still takes building a relationship with people and a commitment to people from early on. Sams even hints at that.

One of the things you see for kids that 'blow up' and still commit to less successful programs is the loyalty aspect.

In basketball, Alec Burks ultimately got pursued by better programs, but Colorado was the first to believe in him, and they stuck with him.  He honored that commitment.

Sams knows we were the first to see his abilities as a QB, we run a system that fits his skills, and we've spent a lot of time developing that relationship.  It doesn't shock me that he looks fantastic this year because when he camped here last year, he threw over 2,000 passes during camp as we obviously drilled him hard.  He was at our spring game.  He made unofficial visits, and he made his official visit.

Sams' recruitment was one where we identified him early, showed him a lot of love early, and made a very strong commitment to him, early (no recruiting of other prep QBs).  He obviously took to that.

Sams is a bit of a unique situation.  I don't really want to offer kids in like April and promise to not recruit any other prep players at his position very often.
