Anyone know what happened to this guy? He was a lock for the cats then all of a sudden randomly committed to arKansas.

We are effectively a G5 team now,  he’s smart to go play in the SEC.

There isn't one. But the question you should be asking is "was there ever a point?"

I haven’t been back to that crap hole since college. We did land two big recruits from there recently, so it’s a bit surprising he didn’t want to follow them there. I’m just astonished they’ve produced 3 P5 football players recently.

blame this one on conference realignment. was a virtual lock to kstate but per KSO with the recent uncertainty it swung him and he wanted to lock up a spot in the "big leagues."

I thought we had two commits from there a year ago. I'm probably wrong. I can't find it on any recruiting sites. Maybe I was projecting Hamm to us awhile back.

Considering our official visit win% is around the same as Florida State and Colorado, should we consider our number of official visits to be a deficiency?  Should we have more?

First of all, that chart is great information but as far as relevancy goes, for all schools, it's only as relevant as your current staff. Our current staff has only had one real class since they've been here.

Hell yes we should have more visits, a lot more. There is no circumstance in which we should be hanging out with Wake Forest, Boston College, and KU. OSU should also be embarrassed. People around that program have been dismayed with Gundy's declining recruiting, looks like he's just getting lazy with age, like Snyder did.

If you’re at a school that doesn’t recruit itself, must be tiring as hell to get beat out all the time. But it’s still important and they’re getting paid millions to not be lazy sacks.

Also discouraging that the current staff seems to have hit that point only 2 years in. Also there’s no pressure here, they’re even applauded for getting the good ol’ boys

How do you figure they've done this, there's no evidence of it at all? They've had a ton of visits this summer, I don't remember Snyder 2.0 having any summer visits that weren't just kids at camp.

This staff isn’t losing for lack of effort that’s for sure.  They have been 10X more active and innovative in their approach compared to Snyder.

That's the disappointing thing - the assumption was that any staff that actually tried/played the recruiting game would do better than Snyder 2.0. Arguably, they have been better, but not by a super-wide margin.

I predict that someday KSU will claim that they don't have the money to do more visits.

They've had one recruiting class.

Snyder's last 4 classes, I'm giving him the '19 class, Klieman came on 1 week before the early signing day, averaged a class ranking of 65.
2016- 80
2017- 61
2018- 52
2019- 68

Klieman's two classes have averaged 50
2020- 49
2021- 51
They've been significantly better than the end of Snyder. I'll also point out that if they commit to holding 10 scholarships for transfers those classes will rate low. It will look like Snyder 1.0 if recruiting classes existed then.

Why are you saying he’s had one recruiting class and then saying his two recruiting classes have been better than Snyder?

Yeah, I'm giving 2020 to Klieman (I get that they had less time to form relationships, etc., but still). Also 247 composite rankings are a bit different:

16: 72
17: 61
18: 66
19: 63
20: 52
21: 56

So, last 4 years of Snyder (giving him 2019) - 65 average. Two years of Klieman - 54 average. Better? Yes. But, we've gone from being one of the bottom 5ish power 5 teams every year to being one of the bottom 15ish power 5 teams.

I'll take the improvement, but I wish it was more significant.

21 isn't an indicator of how the staff is going to recruit, particularly in the context of the hit rate of the staff for those in for an official visit.
