Jon's been hearing it through the grapevine that there were a lot of QB's there, and Sharp was not "the" guy.

He also said he apparently didn't leave Westwood with an offer.

Also, there have been 14 predictions on KJ Carta Samuels in the past three days for him to UW.  I guess he's at Boise now and will pull the trigger after that visit.

If Sharp doesn't have a UCLA offer and KJ goes to UW, well, yeah.
What the hell is happening?  Why are good things happening to KState recruiting?  Remember when people freaked out preemptively about Derricott visiting Miami and now Sharp?

Derricott didn't actually end up going though.
IK, part of my point.  People freaked out preemptively when Derricott had been EMAW as eff for months.

Sharp hasn't been EMAW AF as far as I can tell.

It's my second year following recruiting, so I'm pretty lucky I guess.

How mean were our fans to Sharp on twitter when he announced he was taking a UCLA visit? Obviously not as mean as the classiest fans in America, but pretty mean, right?

This has been something in the back of my mind...

I'm wondering if, mentally, Sharp kind of crossed the Rubicon out to the west coast and thought with these two visits, he'd end up playing out there, and when everything is all said and done, we're still the best of what's around.

It's so late in the game that I don't think he can do much about it, but hopefully he and the staff can reconnect and get back on the same page, and he gets excited to come to Manhattan.

And maybe he is excited to be here, but I'm just going off of updates and message board speculation, etc.  I don't know the kid and am probably making incorrect assumptions about his EMAW.

What exactly is the "grapevine"? Not trying to pick on one of your guys, Pan, but does Morse actually have sources on this? Or making an assumption based on available information?

Well...familial pressure pushed us ahead of Utah.  Tiebreaker vote.

Sharp is perfect for how our system has evolved.  Hopefully, he ends up seeing that.

He still had to make the decision. I don't care how his mind got to the point that he choose us over Utah, but obviously he values his mom's opinion enough to prefer us over Utah.

well, ur point is that Derricott and Sharp are the same.  But, Derricott had an offer and didn't visit.  Sharp doesn't have an offer and did visit with his parents and would have committed on the spot if UCLA offered, which they did not.

So, to your point, they're completely different situations.

Jon has a lot of contacts through EDSBS and a lot of the back-channel stuff between moderators on SB Nation.  It's stuff that even I don't really have access to for a number of reasons.

I'm not sure exactly what "grapevine" means, but he's got connections all over the place.

Yeah, but when choosing to die on a hill, playing for Utah isn't one where I'd grab the bayonet and charge, you know what I mean?

Nope, the point was that people freaked out preemptively over recruiting.  And I thought UCLA offered last week?  Sharp has been committed for like 7 months and his family wants him here.

gotcha, thought you were comparing Derricott's almost-visit and Sharp's actual-visit.

in any event, this Jon fella is apparently saying UCLA didn't offer or something.  But, rivals shows a UCLA offer.  so  :dunno:

Rivals shows contingent offers as offers on a very regular basis.

I think someone at Rivals said once that if a kid said they offered, they'd check the box.  Hell, Sharp may have thought he had an offer, showed up with three or four other QB's, and then realized that he'd get one if Dude 1, Dude 2, and Dude 3 all said, "No."

I think it's interesting that there isn't one peep out there that he flipped yet.

I Hope this is the case, and that there were other QBs there, and Sharp wasn't "the guy" because he's obviously KSU's priority and "our guy."

However, based on rivals, UCLA expected 6 visits this last weekend.

http://ucla.scout.com/a.z?s=12&p=9&c=6&yr=2014

There were 6 players posing for pictures.  The look of the guys matched the looks of the people who were supposed to visit.  So hopefully, there were other QBs there that Rivals didn't list and didn't post for pictures.

The kid obviously likes the west coast. Heart wants what it wants, etc. We should all just be thankful for our group of stud recruiters for getting him to come to K-State. Recruits decommitting? Not this year :nono:.
