Wood is going to be a glorified kick coverage specialist. Nothing more.
You motherfuckers making definitive statements about Tanner Wood without ever having seen him is pissing me off. He's a stud. The reason he won't play offense is that it would be a complete waste to put him at fullback or tight end for that matter.

He will then have to go JUCO where he will knock up a drunk local chick and quit school to become a truck driver.

ESPN AnalystUpdated 01/29/2013This is one of those players that if he were in another state would have more of a high profile on the recruiting landscape because he is big, athletic and has a high ceiling for development. Newlan is stuck in a run heavy, option oriented scheme where he is the feature guy, just not in the passing game. He is raw, but talented. He has great size, is a wonderful athlete and shows excellent speed and quickness for the position. He is one of those guys that can pull a rabbit out of a hat and make plays on the move. Passing offense is one based on quick throws, short roll outs and a lot of play-pass. Reads the defense quickly as an option quarterback wasting very little time finding the open seam and accelerating downhill. Flashes good initial quicks and can cover a lot of ground with his long stride in the open field. Shows deceptive elusiveness and displays good vision. Can break initial contact with his strong frame. As a passer, he does not always look pretty in his mechanics, but he gets the ball there with a deceptively strong and accurate arm. Lacks natural wrist snap as a passer, but gets rid of the ball quickly in the three-step game. Puts nice touch on his fade ball as well as underneath passes. Throws well on the run and does a good job improvising outside of the pocket when the original play breaks down. This is an exciting player that shows flashes of being able to take over a game, especially against this level of competition. This is a player that will only become more productive if he remains at QB with enhanced work in the passing game. He just needs reps and work with progressions. He is always going to be a threat with his legs and his arm is capable of developing into a weapon too. In the right scheme on the right team, Newlan could blossom. He is also a good enough athlete to move to another position if need be.
Academics is a stupid word.Academic schools are synonymous for being rich, powerful and exclusive, three things Kansas State is not. So when people throw the word "academics" around, that's really what they are referencing.
ESPN is all over Newlan's sack. Hilarious that Snyder just pulls this one out of the blue and ESPN absolutely adores him.He received a very solid rating with the following veal:QuoteESPN AnalystUpdated 01/29/2013This is one of those players that if he were in another state would have more of a high profile on the recruiting landscape because he is big, athletic and has a high ceiling for development. I mean, he's not gonna be a QB, but that is a nice read.

I'm sorry; we recruited the Newlan kid as a QB? I assumed secondary.
