Can you imagine how ridiculous Campbell's purple hairnet is gonna look if he doesn't cut his hair?

That is a very "Wabash Station" answer.

Is this player is good as the player we recruited but lost, and will this player assist our much depleted LB core?

I do not know the answer relative to Spaight, but my guess is that our defense will be loads better because we have added this guy.  I had the impression that Spaight was a clear cut MLB, and the impression that Campbell isn't quite as clear cut of the MLB.  That would lead me to be still disappointed that we lost Spaight.

South Fort Myers junior Sammy Watkins, right, edges Cypress Lake's Devondre Campbell by a fraction of a second to win the 200 meter dash at the Lee County Athletic Conference track and field meet on March 31, 2010 at Estero High School. Watkins finished in 21.87. Campbell's time was 21.88. Kevin Johnson/Staff
Academics is a stupid word.

Academic schools are synonymous for being rich, powerful and exclusive, three things Kansas State is not.

So when people throw the word "academics" around, that's really what they are referencing.

He certainly doesn't fly through the O-line like Arthur did.  Way more patient.

Kenny Hill write-up on A&M's rivals site

Texas A&M head coach Kevin Sumlin and his staff has hit the recruiting trail and one of their most important stops was last night at the home of Southlake Carroll quarterback's Kenny Hill.

"Coach Sumlin and Coach Beaty both came by the house last night," said the four-star A&M commit.

Hill is still committed to Texas A&M but is taking a couple of late visits including Baylor last weekend and Kansas State this weekend.

Q: What was the conversation last night with Coach Sumlin and Coach Beaty?

Hill: They mainly told me what their plan is for me and how I fit in.

Q: So what is their plan for you?

Hill: I will come in and will compete to be Johnny's back up. Then once Johnny leaves I will be competing for the starting job.

Q: How does that sit with you?

Hill: That is what I expected. I never though I would go in and take over the Heisman quarterbacks job. That is fine with me. The coaches and I just had to clear some stuff up with me to see where I fit in, in all of this. They did tell with all of the success he is having and the popularity of the duel-threat qb in the NFL right now, there is a good chance he could be leaving in the next two years.

Q: How was the Baylor visit?

Hill: It went well. I had a good time. I got to meet with the coaches and meet with the baseball coaches so it went pretty well.

Q: So did they tell you they see you as their starter?

Hill: Yes ma'am. They told me I could come in and battle for that spot.

Q: Is Kansas State saying the same thing?

Hill: Yes ma'am.

Q: In the end how do you decide?

Hill: I am just going to go on all of my visits (Kansas State this weekend and A&M on the January 25) then see how I feel.

Q: Having been to A&M before and now with Baylor official visit over, at this point, is there a clear leader?

Hill: Well, I have always loved A&M, from the very start., and that is where I am committed. Both programs are good programs though.

Q: So in the end do you basically have to decide between battling to start right away or waiting a year or so then battling to start?

Hill: Well, yeah I guess. I will decide between where I feel most comfortable and the place I can excel the most both academically and athletically.
Q: Are all three programs talking about you playing both baseball and football?

Hill: Yes ma'am.

also..i know that it's been awhile since he had an update on rivals...but keep an eye on Zach Hannon from Rockhurst. He's been awfully quiet in regards to his commitment to Nubbs and his good friend/ManChild/TotalEmaw Jamone Boyd is ours...don't be surprised if we flip him before signing day.

Is campbell a better version of chris patterson? Like, the version of patterson who is actually good at football rather than just being good at having sexy measurables?

Campbell to K-State.

big time...big time get!!

6'5 225 with sprinter's speed.  he was a finalist at state in 200 meters in florida high school.  he is a stud in the making.

He was almost always the closest guy to keeping up with Clemson's Sammy Watkins. Sammy is obviously a WR, so to have comparable speed as a LB is obviously a great indicator. I've heard Tennessee was looking at him for DE/LB/S. I'm sure we'll find a spot for this one. Do you think he fills the hybrid role somewhere between a safety and LB on early downs instead of a nickel back sometimes? I hope to see him off the edge going after the QB on obvious passing downs.

And even faster than Lamark. LB sure was fun to party with, though. Pretty sure he taught me how to "dougie" on the Sigma Nu roof-top

Watkins was one of the best 200 prep sprinters nationally so the fact that Campbell was typically within a few strides is indicative of his speed.

As for his position...where both Lamur and Tuggle played.  Lamur was better in coverage than Tuggle and Tuggle was a better pass rusher.  This guy has Lamur's length and likely could be as good as Lamur in coverage and Tuggle as a rusher.  Turn this guy loose on 3rd downs.

what's encouraging about this class is that we've landed 3 legit 4.5 (or better) LBs in this class and 3 DEs who are under 4.7 legitimately.  This is turning out to be a very good one on the defensive side of the ball.  Closing out with a stud DT or two and another quality corner would be awesome.

A&M telling Hill that Manziel may leave early for the NFL is laughable. The NFL is not clamoring for 5'11" dual threat QBs.

I drool at the thought of him leaving early, the Raiders drafting him with their first pick, and then watching [insert massive pass rusher here] break that choch bag in half.

If Hill doesn't understand that Manziel PROBABLY will not leave after next season, well, he's a rough ridin' dumbass. Do any of you actually think Hill can come to Manhattan in June and challenge a SO(RS) Sams and JR Waters with a spring under his belt? I mean, if that helps get him to manhattan, fine, but I don't see it happening. Having three guys legitimately battling it out would be

I agree - you can't just almost fumble and then run around in the NFL. He's no Mike Vick and that didn't event turn out all that well for him. Woof.

This Campbell guy like looks like a big, huge athletic freak that runs around really fast and tackles people and chases people down from behind.

Which will be better?  I have no idea.

And that's what you call a HFBIQ breakdown.
