I'm not convinced it's lack of effort at much as just not having the ability. Kinda like our coaches are the Hrebec of the recruiting world.

It's a lack of effort more than anything.
It could be.
I once blew clove smoke in a guy's face that cut in front of me in the line to KJ's.

I think this is likely.  These guys like staying home, and Bill is more than happy to keep them home.

Kind of like "Bill, I could go out to Garden City and watch their game OR I could break down film of OK-state at home (not really)"

Inherently, it's ability.  What makes it worse is effort/time spent.

Venables and Stoops x2 and Leavitt all got players back when there were no interwebs (relatively speaking) or as much available data and KSU was a tougher sell.  Why?  Because they have the ability to.

We missed out big time in the juco recruits this past year and it shows, badly.

Yup.
The Snyder way is becoming unyielding to change, unwilling to adapt, and boring.
"lets keep our playbook close, although I'm sure everyone knows what im going to do by now" (especially with the # of assistants leaving the program).

won't even throw in a wrinkle for the offensive scheme, why expect them to do better in recruiting..
anyways
,
I've said this before and I'll say it again. The pistol formation, wildcat, and all those basic formations have worked well for what they'e given, but if they want to take advantage of personnel matchups or add some craziness to catch a team off guard - that uses the run as the basis for offensive production - OB really needs to look at some flexbone. If you watch flexbone schools (academies, georgia tech, georgia southern) they do great against even competition and are fine against much better schools (only because they solely use the flex).

If OB can make the flex formations align themselves as a pistol look or whatever, but still have the triple option just incase (mind you, the flexbone was made for run and gun/spread so its built for passing as well). look out.

in terms of recruiting, dont need cray cray athletes for it to work.  Blah

The inability to recruit is caused by many things, and very few of those many things have anything to do with location or all the other tired excuses.   Most of those many things reside solely on the back of the guy they named the stadium after and his highly anal retentive ways and general lack of zeal for allowing his coaches to do what is necessary to recruit, and his inability to hire guys who can both recruit and coach.

Now, now. Let's not act like Bill has coaches on his staff who can either recruit or coach.

Ryan Willis and Miege beat Blue Valley West 37-12.  The TV highlights were all of Willis throwing bomb TD's all over the place.

Ok, so this Willis kid is a verbal for 2014, right?

What if this Qb out of Hays commits to us for the same class?  Surely we would not take both....

Which one is better?

True.  And crapshoot on which one is better.  Willis throws a damn fine deep ball, though.

I have info from Willis's cousin who is a good friend of mine.  Snyder sent Willis a handwritten birthday letter and he loved it.  Loves KSU, visited Mizzou last week.  His family loves Snyds.

Not sure how well Free Shoes University would play in today's game, they seem to actually care about crap like that lately.

Knowing that we're not going to replace one HOF coach with another doesn't make me a dumb eff.  We won the rough ridin' conference last year.  You guys need to take Sams Wang out of your mouth and listen to yourselves talk for once.

Errol Clarke will announce tonight   Reply
I have been told that the Garden City CC linebacker will make a commitment this evening, likely on Twitter.

I have also been told what school he plans to pledge his allegiance with, but out of respect for Errol and his recruitment, I won't be revealing that at this time.

Keep in mind that Errol still does not hold an offer from K-State. Hopefully that tells you all you need to know in the case you were planning to refresh your Twitter feed tonight...

Do you have any insight on why we didn't offer when we clearly have a need at linebacker?

It was expressed to me that K-State just "didn't like him".

I don't know if that means on the field or off the field, but clearly there was something about Clarke that the coaching staff didn't feel comfortable with in the Big 12.

That's about as far as it goes honestly. There's no backstory, no rhyme or reason. Just simply didn't want to offer.
Texas Christian University coach Gary Patterson has been hired as Kansas State's 34th football coach, multiple sources have confirmed to GoPowercat.com.  Patterson replaces Ron Prince, who was fired Wednesday. - Tim Fitzgerald   Nov, 7, 2008
