Here is some evidence it probably (not probally or prolly) is Alford:

"I have never felt more secure about any unm coach. Don't get me wrong, I don't under appreciate alford, but I believe he loves being "the keeper of the key", as dave bliss used to say. Alford and family all seem to love and appreciate unm, and all fans love and appreciate alford. He is on a mission (to make unm and himself, an elite program). and there is probably less than 10 programs, he would leave unm for, and none of those jobs are open."

Welcome to Manhattan, KEEPER OF THE KEY

Coach Alford is not going anywhere, Bryce said he wants to play in the PIT.. he loves to hit nothing but net.. Kory will play next year. 3 big time recruits coming in with 2 schoolies..

If it's Alford we need to fire Currie immediately. Seriously, he's done.

you know how currie's been able to keep this coaching search quiet?  because when you bring in or talk to no name guys, no one can recognize them.

"hey, what's john doing with that guy in a suit?  oh, probably nothing, looks like an insurance salesman."

"did anyone see that guy with the huge head go into john's office.  what's that about?  Oh, he's probably interviewing for a halftime show gig next year at basketball games".

If f'ing Doug Gotlieb walked in, I mean, JFC, could you keep that quiet?

And that's exactly why whatever douche we hire won't get it done on the recruiting trail.  Cause all the kids at the AAU tournament are going to wonder why the janitor is wearing KSU gear and wanting to talk to them.

My new cleaning lady is more ITK than Mitch.

To be fair, she is pretty ITK.  She loves DG though.  "muy guapo" she says.

apparently we are a DESTINATION JOB ... anyway more Lobo quotes:

Too many positives to bolt just because a big-6 school might call and offer more money where he'd have to start all over again.

He's not going anywhere.

There are no facts, there are no support for the rumors, nothing. Just complete speculation on the "journalists" part.

Let's see, Iowa City, college football town in the middle of the corn fields. The little apple, Manhattan, KS., college football town in the middle of the wheat fields. Alford's been there, done that. Coach Alford wants to build UNM to a nationally recognized respected program. Well on the way to doing that. Job not near finished, however.

K State wishes, nothing to see here, move along.

K-State is only looking to spend about 1.4 million based upon what I've heard. Is K-State so much more prestigious than UNM that such a minimal pay raise would cause Alford to bolt and start from scratch? I think not. Alford has been mentioned in Kansas papers as well. It's always funny when these writers from other states mention Alford. It's just like Oregon a couple of years ago... "Well, surely he'd much rather be here than New Mexico..." lol. The rest of the country is so clueless about what we have here that it would be funny if it wasn't so sad. I'd say ignorance is bliss, but they're the ones looking for a new coach because their AD is an idiot. Not so blissful. And, look at it this way... If South Carolina is a better job than K-State, then there's no question that New Mexico is a better job than K-State.

Like others have said I don't think we would be seeing Bryce Alford commit if he thought his Dad was going to leave anytime soon. It would have to be a dream job like Indiana or a destination job like a Kansas, Duke type scenario where Lobo fans couldn't really blame him for leaving. I may just be drinking too much of the Cherry Koolaid but I think coach is looking to make a long term legacy at UNM much like his mentor did at IU.

I want to wake up in a city that never sleeps, etc.

well, being that Alford pissed the Iowa fan base off right from the start, I'd guess it won't take long for Currie to be gone and Alford to follow.

Hopefully, by that time Pearl has landed at a smaller or mid major school and we could get him then.

The founders of KSU must have done the most horrible things imaginable and we are paying for and apparently will keep paying for it forever.
