Brod and Harper will be juniors.  And "shies away from contact" is a rough ridin' Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!) talking point.  How many QBs don't shy away from contact?  He's not a freaking defensive player dumbasses.

Didn't want to start a tread ... this tuggle and sams recruting got me thinking

Anybody remember how well regarded Ell Roberson was coming out of high school.  I know he was highly recruited, but couldn't find any articles about how much.

Neither Ell nor Beasley looked to run people over.  Hell, Ell was like 190lbs and his ability to make people miss was one of his biggest attributes.  If your QB looks to initiate contact, expect fumbles and injuries.  Also- you think May, Kavanaugh, Miller, etc looked to initiate contact, stevedavetard?

nobody said anything about running over people.  I also wouldn't call Kavanaugh or Miller good.  But, none of the rest shied away from contact (and all had better arms than Tuggle).

We're making shying away from contact too simple.  I think one thing Stevedave is referring to is that when Tuggle is in the pocket, rather than step through his throws, he has a tendancy to lean back to avoid contact.

As for how much contact he is involved in during option plays, I haven't watched enough tape to give a decent analysis

So, Tuggle doesn't like being hit?  Neither does any NFL QB not named Tim Tebow.  And Beasley didn't have a strong arm by any means.  Guess well have to omit the plays that call for 45 yd passes now...  and Sams is horribly inaccurate.

Also, if a coaching staff who thinks that Coffman looked great leading up to the season, thinks you aren't looking too good....  :goodbyecruelworld:

You do realize Snyder built his offense around the option and the deep pass, right? Having a QB with a strong arm is HUGE for us.

At what point during the option does the QB intentionally hit a defender?   And the vast majority of our long passing plays are because of yards after the catch, not the number of yards the ball is in the air.

The quarterback should turn into the direction of the defender right before he is going to pitch to draw them to him. This inevitably leads you to getting hit, i.e. heading toward contact.

Martinez, Jones, Godfrey, etc all look to evade defenders, rather than engage them.  Unless the QB is Freems size, you don't want them looking to hit defenders.  And the ball carrier is always "moving towards contact" you dumbass, unless he is outrunning the entire defense.  That's not the same as initiating contact.  Very, very few QBs look to run over or through defenders, that's a simple fact.  I would much rather have a Vick type of running QB than a guy who just runs north/south, annd risks fumbles and injuries by seeking out contact.

Pretty much every QB shies away from contact.  There's a reason you never hear that description of a QB, they all do it.  If I heard that about a RB, I would worry.  Hey SD, any word on if that kicker we signed likes to mix it up with defenders?  If not,I say we hand the keys of the offense to a different kicker who wasn't good enough to start in high school but has some neat highlight videos and will totally save our program.  And you guys are the same retards who bitch about recruits having no BCS offers.  Tuggle actually started for a BCS team.  How many BCS offers (at QB) did Sams have?  How about the kid he split time with?  Is that a zero I hear?  Sounds like a zero to me.

Yeah -- for the record -- I'd call Miller good, and he also seemed to enjoy making contact on running plays.

miller also had numerous concussions and 2 seperated shoulders.  Pretty sure I referenced the probability of injuries earlier....

jtksu, you're pretty fired up about this. It's just a simple evaluation somebody had suggesting Tugs might be sort of a pussy sometimes, that's all.
