Our roster next year (barring any other defections)
« on: January 31, 2011, 11:58:09 PM »
Lead type Guards:
Peterson - SR. ** (I'm not sure what he was coming from HS.) seems talented
Myles - SR.
Irving - JR. ***
Spradling - SO. ***
Angel - Fr. *** (fringe 150)

Bigger, two type guards and Swingmen:
Rodney - JR. **** (20/84)
Russell - JR. ***  (21/119)
Southwell - SO.  *** (25/131)
Nino - FR.  ****

Bigs/ Posts
Jamar - SR. ***
JHR - JR. ***
Gipson - Fr. *** (24/142)
Diaz - Fr.  *** (17/145)

Assuming these are "buy in" type guys and Frank learns and grows a bit himself, we look to have a decent mix of experienced players and talented (not uber-talented) young players.  Paired with lowered expectations does anyone see this team being similar to the 06-07 and 08-09 squads but hopefully able to get over the hump and go dancing?  Trying to see positives here.

If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

I hate it how Frank gets away with the "we're young" excuse every season. but it is kind true since he cuts at least one player per class. :blank:

Looking at the roster, I don't see that being a valid explanation for any miscues next season.

We should have upperclassmen/ leader types at every position, and the underclassmen aside from the freshmen, ie. Spradling and Southwell, should all have a lot of game experience.

Maybe this is the type of team Frank envisioned when he said, "that job is going to get done."

1. I think Myles will be a jr.
2. Our bigs are going to get destroyed.  :goodbyecruelworld:

Very weak Sr class.  Especially as leadership goes.

You don't know what Peterson was coming from HS? C'mon man! 95!

ESPN might have overrated him a bit, but I don't see the harm in getting him more PT this year. I don't think it will reduce our overall level of play this year and we might as well start preparing to try to slide off that bubble next year.

What about Willie Reed transfering in from Saint Louis.  Is that a no go now?  Seems like we could really use him.

Of course not, when it comes to the KSU Cats this year, what can go wrong, will go wrong.

(Some guy on GPC said the family had reconsidered about him going back to SLU after the "conditional readmittance" but I've seen no evidence to prove this, so realistically, Reed transferring is not something I'm counting on at all)

I think Nino will be good.

From what I've seen(saw him play extended time at AAU tourney last Spring) and read about Nino, I think his offensive game is very McGruderesque right now, very good jump shooter from deep, great at attacking the glass and mixing it up in the paint, but really needs to improve his passing and handling ability, especially if he's going to see big minutes at the 2.

I am very optimistic about his future, I just don't know if I expect him to step in next year and be a primary scorer/offensive weapon for us.

kinda a low-ninoIQ here, but everything about him seems to say "3" to me.  Am I Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!)?

Just like Gruds, I think he projects to a slightly undersized 3, definitely expect to see Southwell more at the 2 in future rotations.

Add an impact PG to that roster and that team looks a hell of a lot better.

It's going to be great to be Frank again next year . . . He'll have that "we're young" card burning a big old hole in his pocket, ready, willing and available to pulled out at a moments notice.

Coming to 2011-2012 K-State basketball media guides, press conferences and interviews near you.

Regardless of how you slice it this cheese would definitely be considered aged cheddar.  This is good IMO.

Yeah, there are no guarantees, but I'm going to polish up the experience factor as much as I can. I've got to get a bit of hope back.
