the specs are just as good, if not better in some areas. But will the overall experience be better than Apple? doubt it.

i can't stand when i use someone's ipad and have to deal with that crap apple interface.  i really don't understand how people don't #burnitdown.

you can do that with an iphone?

ya.  they have to do it for you.  iphone 4s uses micro sim and requires a special tool.  should only take a 15 minute stop in a phone shop over there as opposed to using the sprint international data plan b/c it's very expensive.  flip side is that you will have a new number so if anyone tries to dial your us #, it won't go through.  flip side is then you just switch back to your old sim card when you come back.  flip side is that's kind of a PITA.

Confirmed convenient advice from clams here.  Also, who the eff calls instead of emailing? Glad to have those troglodytes blocked (<--flip side).

Yes, I will be doing this thing with my iphone. less than $200 for 2 weeks of unlimited data and voice in Europe, very nice. thanks clams.

an alternative to getting an international plan is to use an app such as Groovelite IP and use wifi for VOIP calls.   This is what we will do in Puerto Vallarta in December.

no, they don't even mention how to do it. I went through the order process to the pay part and nothing.

Is my iphone 4s a "locked" device?  it gives me warnings saying that:

I undestand that the selected plan will not work with my locked device.
I will rent unlocked device or find other soultion to use with the rented SIM.

if I'm still on contract it will be locked, right?
