Man I never read this thread.  1)  If Sprint/T-Mobile merge, you can bet your ass HQ will be moved to WA.  The Japanese are already tired of flying to Kansas.

2)  I just kinda took a leap of faith and ported my personal number over to Google Voice, and will just do call forwarding to my work phone so now I only carry around one phone.  #onephone #onechant

how has the texting using gv worked out?

Dunno.  Just did it.  Takes "24 hours" to get the number ported.  The nerdy guy at work smiled a lot and was very reassuring when I approached him about this endeavor.  I got the feeling everything will be okay.

Yep. Huge downside to gv. I use it for work. It's nice to keep my number private and just share the gv number. If I need to receive an mms, then I share my actual cell number.

Everyone has a laptop bag, put the other one in the lap top bag.  We had another thread on lap top bags where this was covered extensively.  I go with a double strapped back pack Swiss army one, because old and bad back and don't give the fucks.

No joke, my grandpa does this. He just got an s5, but still carries around his old iPhone4 because it has all his pictures and phone numbers on it. Dual holsters

So, here's why I liked google voice (I no longer have it because the MMS thing was such a pain.)

Can text internationally w/ only wifi
can text from computer
can check voicemail from any device (and it's much better than any other VM service)
can send/receive calls from computer and it's the same number as my cell phone
easy to record calls
can make VOIP calls from phone (or at least you could, I think google since blocked this)

Yes I know there are ways around most of these but google voice was a pretty easy way to do it.

There's talk that they'll merge google voice with hangouts, which is such an awful application. Couldn't they have just copied what the iphone does? Apparently not, and it's terrible if you try to make it your primary SMS app.
