Corey Adams, Monument, Colorado. 78 miles south of Boulder.
Story from a couple years ago from Denver Post:
Monument, CO (AP) - Lewis-Plamer High School sits just a short drive away from the campus of the University of Colorado Boulder. In a classroom not unlike any other across the country sits a football star who craves to play so close to home that his family and friends can see him play most Fall afternoons in beautiful Colorado. One thing is missing from this scenario... a football scholarship offer from the Buffaloes to the long snapper named Corey Adams.
Head coach Dan Hawkins believes Adams would be a fine collegiate long snapper... just not for the black and gold. "I've seen Corey play quite a few times. If I had to compare his skills to my son Cody's, there really is no comparison. Cody could be an All-American as a long snapper if he wasn't a quarterback. Corey might be a backup long snapper at a Division II school or a place like Colorado School of Mines," Hawkins stated in his weekly teleconference.
Adams has all the statistics to back up his play on the field. In his high school career, he has 321 straight snaps without a miscue (perfect on all PAT/field goal and punt snaps). But that didn't seem to be enough for Hawkins. "If there's a time down the road that I see my Colorado Buffaloes playing whatever team Corey is playing for, I would hope we win that game by 45 points or more. Not that Corey isn't that bad of a football player, but I don't think he could long snap the ball in Boulder and win."
So for now, Adams awaits other offers from schools outside the immediate area. He's been in contact with coaches from Ohio State, Michigan, USC and Kansas State, plus a few other Big 10 schools. "Right now I am leaning towards Kansas State because of how close it is to Colorado. I'm just thankful that one of the great football minds of today, Head Coach Ron Prince (of Kansas State) has offered me a scholarship," Adams commented.
