companies used to have to overbuild products, but now with computer modeling and whatnot companies can engineer their products to fail in a fairly short lifetime (5-10 years as opposed to old crap that would last 30+ years), making you buy more stuff.

your eyes will eventually get bloodshot (like over 20-30 years).  when they don't get enough o2 (through the lens surface), they grow capillaries to supply the cornea with blood.

Stop lights are actually synced to cause as much stopping/starting as possible and to encourage you to take a run at the yellow.
