I don't think he gets fired without losing out. Or at least getting 6 conference wins would certainly save his job until next year.
I don't think he's getting fired in any case. He'll retire after next season.
Honest question, are you being serious here or just gEing? There's been so much of it on the basketball board since April 2012 I legitimately can't tell.
I'm pretty serious that there's a very good chance he's back next year. Especially if he gets over 5 conference wins.
I guarantee you that he won't be back. Periodt. He already restructured oscar's contract that essentially removed the buyout, why do you think he would do that if he would just let oscar sit here losing games at a historic clip?
This isn't proof of this or anything but Gene certainly didn't throw him a life line on the radio on Monday. Mitch Fortner asked Gene about oscar's comments after WVU about how unfair it was for K-State to have to play that game, here was Gene's response.
It is what it is... everybody faces the same situation, we all agreed, coaches and ADs, on what the minimums should be to coach a game. The minimus are six scholarshipped players, one full time coach. I know coach gets frustrated with that, all the coaches do, but they agreed to it. We asked them if they wanted seven players and they said no, six players is enough. It certainly didn't help our situation... It is conference policy and it is what it is.
