Robots taking jobs
« on: April 18, 2017, 01:46:30 AM »
Man I am against robots.  These bastards are coming into America and taking jobs.  Pushing low.wagers out of jobs like hamburger cooking and taking factory jobs.  Who the hell will have any money to buy anything if no one has a job.  I say we should outlaw these contraptions.  People make.America great not intelligent garbage cans. :'bye cruel world:

Well well well, renocat finally figured out the real reason for all those people losing their jobs. Not some smelly mexicans or chinese person. It's capitalism getting itself to the highest form of itself, and doing things quicker, cheaper, and with less errors is the job of the robot. Welcome to the new hellscape that capitalism will reap upon humanity, the day you no longer can work cause you are too expensive for it. But alas, you can't stop it. The consumer demands more goods at a low price. But by all means, try to tear down free trade, try to do away with all those things you love about capitalism, the competition, the free market, the freaking ingenuity of it all. You know you can't do it. Cause, socialism is bad! But but but but. Exactly dumbfucks. It's been going on for a while, and it's only getting started. Those awesome self driving cars? Good bye truck drivers, taxi drivers, and really anyone who drives for a living, all 3-4 million of them in the next decade. But People like k-s-u wildcats, and all those over the hill dumbasses that think it's down the road, not a problem now, work harder you assholes and stop leaching on me don't realize the we are on the edge of the greatest revolution of all time, the one were humans don't work for a living. This isn't a 50+ year problem, this is a 10-20 year problem. It needs to be addressed now, but instead dumbasses vote in a clownshow to provide them with circuses in the mean time.

In short, yes, robots need to be taxed, sooner or later, and we'll need some sort of income for the people, if we want the average person to be taken care of, or we chose a situation where only very very few people are able to work and create wealth, and everyone else is poor sods not worthy of any mere pittance. I really enjoy the concept in theory, but would love to see the models showing where and how much money would need to come from private individuals to support it. If cfbandyman is correct, there will come a time when the average person can't find work. The very vague answer is that the wealthy would pay for it.

I am more interested in a transition plan. What steps would need to be taken between now and this future world to make the system viable without alienating a chunk of the population in the process.

The workforce will adapt.  And, along the way, goods will decrease is cost such that one doesn't need at much money to maintain a standard of living.

Guaranteed basic income sounds like an even faster way to reach overpopulation imo

This sounds like a young adult dystopian novel where the government provides everything and then assigns you a job....yep, I already read it. http://www.matched-book.com/

In that book, everyone just automatically died when they turned 80. (There was a secret poison in the government provided food.) So maybe that's a solution to overpopulation.
