This could have changed in the past month or two, but due to the shape of the new NEZ to connect the north to the east, we'll actually slightly lose capacity due to how it all works out architecturally.

is this true, taking into account the new sliver of seats that will be added in the NW corner - grass area between bowl and party deck?

Seems likely if you take into account that we are replacing an entire GA section with band seating and a party deck, but it seems odd to go backwards in the midst of a 4 year long sellout streak.

Whatever the northmost section of the student section is, will be partially removed, thus reducing capacity of the stadium. Like I said earlier, i'm not sure if things have changed or not, but matching the two elevations and stair/seating slopes is going to be tough.

Yes, getting rid of the bleachers is triple dumb, there is literally no reason for doing so.

There's a safety reason, but it's not my problem.

I thought there was a section 9 bleachers joke in here that I thought I got but now blackcats has me thinking otherwise.

Mine was about one of the OG chokeouts from when I think Pete and I were in the bleacher in the SW corner for a squawk game.

Yeah, last Saturday I went to the old grassy corner to look at the new Vanier. It is going to be interesting to see how they fit in the new pieces to form that corner.

I agree to quality over quantity now. But as Manhattan grow with the bio-weapons lab, I like to see the stadium grow to a nice round number of 60,000. That just sounds good realignment wise.

Yep that was the joke I was thinking. You guys sat in section 9 then, those bleachers no longer exist.

That's too bad.  They should've given me a bench off of them or something as a tribute.

in other words, they're doing exactly what they did in the NW corner.  the rake of the seating bowl is identical in both corners and, therefore, in both corners, you're going to see retaining walls where the NEZ seats/party decks meet with bowl seats.  the only difference b/w NE and NW corners is that one is party deck and the other is band seats.

I work with a lot of Penn State grads who brag about their stadium capacity of 106,572. Our 53,000 seems so paltry in comparison. How do I fire back about how BSFS is still awesome. (Paterno jokes are a no go).

Bingo! The NE-EZ will slightly overlap the student section a little more than the original NEZ project did due to the face that the student section had greater capacity than section 1.

Tell them that it's not about the size of the dog in the yard, but the amount of yard in the dog.

Tell those boners they have a 106k stadium in a state of 13 million people, we have a 53k stadium in state of 3 million... so in relation to state population to stadium size, ours is way bigger and theirs would need to hold like 235k to be the same size as ours. Go Cats.

When was the last time Penn  State was relevant in anything? Stadium capacity is all they got. No need to say anything.
