The CIC talking point may be the most overrated talkingif point in conference realignment history.
I think so too.

The real truth is that once the playoffs expand and major conference champions get auto bids, and we all know it will, our conference will be the best one to be in. If Boren wasn't a dumb crap, he'd know to just wait until then and we'll be in a pretty good spot to invite other major conference schools.

because hank bounds was just hired and I don't know what you would know about his preference for the big 10 over the big 12 (other than it being a more highly respected and lucrative academic situation for them which he and any other president ever hired would believe) and harvey perlman would have literally zero say in the matter one way or the other and he's retiring anyway. like, did you just decide that was probably something that was the case and say it?

Need old members of board gone, too.  Plus, Dr. Tom is still alive.  (I will grant that "administration" probably wasn't the most precise word choice.)

What makes you say that? Ours is probably the hardest to win, but I guess expansion would make it easier.

Should be easier to win a 12 team league than a 14 team league. Because math (and tangential reasons like only 2 historical powers)

When you are the Big 10, and those 14 teams include Rutgers, Maryland, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Northwestern, Purdue, and Minnesota, it's not. That would be like playing Iowa State 4-5 times every year.

And outside of maybe Nebraska, who from that conference would consider leaving and that we would want? Answer: nobody because those teams aren't who our targets would be.  LSU would probably still tell us to eff off but they would pause before doing so for reasons I've outlined.
