Terry Pratchett died. I read all of his books in high school and the ones that have come out since then. I'm going to read them all again.

I'd suggest, like, the first one (The Colour of Magic)? Or go by theme (see chart). Actually, Good Omens with Neil Gaimen is really great as well.

What is a "starter novel"? The beginning of a series or like for little kids?

like the start of that storyline. they are all intertwined. the first ones were written in like the early 80s or something.

"a garden city man wondered in april if the theologians had not made a mistake in locating the garden of eden in asia rather than in the arkansas river valley."

I'm reading the Colour of Magic. Here's a quote (review) on the back of the book..."For those of you who have not yet surrendered to the Pratchett phenomenon, the feeling you are left with on reaching the end of a Discworld book is the reading equivalent of that glow you have at the coffee and cognac stage of a sumptuous four-course meal in an exquisite restaurant deep in rural France."

Well when I was in rural France, I didn't have any coffee or cognac; but so far it is not really grabbing my interest so much.

the first books aren't the best. they were written a long time ago. started out as a parody of fantasy movies/books and later turned into parodies of society in general which were more interesting. if you get through a couple you will probably not quit reading them though. try Good Omens if you get bored with that one.

Small Gods is a great place to start. Really good book, that is more or less self contained.

I mean, when I asked you to suggest one of the books to read, did you think I was asking for you to recommend the worst one?

would you suggest the first harry potter or the best one (if it happens to not be the first one, I have no idea) to someone who wants to read them? Good Omens is a stand alone.

Too late now. I already started reading it so now I have to finish.
