how many threads do you need to start?

Anyway, thanks for the writeup. I enjoyed our discussion of international politics, history, and gun ownership, among other things. I don't think either of us really intended to talk about that crap but the fact that we could make small talk with those topics is part of what makes college football fandom so special.

I like to compensate.

I enjoyed the conversation also. It was a very good time.

Honestly, it's a bunch of cliché fluff.  Very similar to what a nubb fan would post.

Gonna win 'em all!

I wanted put my observations down before this but I was exhausted last night when I got in.

Although some of the KSU fans bore a bizarre resemblance to Purple Bammers (see pic below), they were invariably very very polite. If I had a dollar for every time I heard “Welcome to KSU, I hope you have a good time”, my gas for the trip would have been free. Manhattan, as a town, was extremely friendly and welcoming – they have won themselves a fan in me. I do wish their color was different than LSU purple though. Lol

Much has been said on here about the small size of their stadium, and it is a small one compared to the SEC, but make no mistake, the fans are extremely tuned into their school and team. For years I have used the 2006 AU-UF game as my benchmark for the loudest sustained crowd noise I have ever experienced, and I will tell you that Thursday's game came very very close to that mark.

I know there has also been a lot of talk about the game and our performance, and I am not sure what I can intelligently add to that conversation, but I will throw out a few observations. First of all I don't think that KSU is very used to facing the size and speed of good SEC defensive lines, which became somewhat obvious when you watched their attempts at a run game against us. The off tackle rushes were quickly snuffed out by our fast defense, and most of the runs up the middle hit a wall. Anecdotally, a KSU fan sitt....er....standing next to me asked my in the first quarter, “Is your defense THAT big?” I replied, “Yes, and deep too.” He just shook his head.

I am not going to talk about our offensive snafu's; they are well covered here. I will say however that I don't think our team was really expecting what they found in Manhattan, and were taken off guard. If they had been pumped up for a big SEC game I think the performance would have been better overall. I am happy with the way they put their head down and fought it out once they realized it wasn't going to be a cakewalk. Maybe they read too much of the press before the game? I don't know. But they seemed flat to me, at least at the start.

I watched the game this morning. Before Thursday I was impressed with KSU's offensive line, and I remain so. They were thoroughly over matched on an individual basis by our front 7, but they played very very well even so. Yes, they sometimes succumbed to bull rushes and blitzes, but for the most part they gave Waters time to do what he does. That guy is a very good quarterback.

It is my fervent hope that our team comes away from Manhattan with some important lessons. It sure isn't going to be any easier going forward.

You forgot to add the part that kstate was clearly the superior team but opted to shoot off both their feet, then their right femur and finally their spleen, and still, it took a groin pull of their best cb for Auburn to finally move the ball.

I'm asking this question from an honest point of confusion. Why do people — both Auburn fans and Bammers — have such a real and serious problem with the "Roll Snyd" stuff? Are they trolling? I mean, it's pretty clever and I would give props if some school did something similar with KU or our real rival Texas. Or is it just dumbasses who can't see clever humor?
If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

IMO most don't see the humor in it because we see something similar pretty much every time we play a bowl game.but to be perfectly honest we do the same sort of thing when the bammers play bowl games. For instance I saw to shirts the year before last that said War Damn Irish.
The Roll Snyd shirts, to me, were not a big deal one way or the other. It was another play on a tired old joke. The elephant hats were a lot funnier.
