I would bet there's a good chance not everything was on the up and up, either the gun was purchased illegally or possessed illegally.  Obviously it was used illegally.

I would wager that, regardless of the law, people would be able to source just about anything.  The price might change I suppose.  It'd be like drugs I guess.

Drugs should be decriminalized.  It is possible that this shooting would have never taken place if drugs were legal. 

I mean, I don't know what caused the pre-cop altercation, but think of all the shady drug deals that would be avoided if legal.

I mean, there are tons of laws that could have prevented this person from owning a gun. Definitely not something passed the day before or only in KCK.

The larger point is that blaming Black Lives Matter for this shooting is absurd.
