You just have to experience it. They are very comfortable and stay dry when walking all day. You can also wear them multiple days if needed. I have some cheap merino socks from Amazon as well and they are just fine but the single pair of darn tough is definitely better.

I think air dry? I dunno I just machine them and accept whatever the consequences may be.

I have craploads of merino socks.  Darn Tough is the best and have a lifetime warranty (but I’ve never had to use it).  Smartwool is general pretty good.  Mixed results for Icebreaker and Point6 durability so haven’t bought those in several years. 

Cold wash.  Air dry.

Actually now that I think about it, Darn Tough is the only brand that I’ll throw in the dryer and not worry about.
