If so, were we in any kind of "defend the fake punt" scheme??

We make it off the field on third down AND defend a fake punt...Asking a bit much I think

Proably right, plus with the field position and distance, who in the wide world of sports runs a fake in that situation?

Nope. Normal punt coverage. Mack obviously broke their "Gentleman's Agreement".

Brent and Herbstreet said that punting was "absolutely the right football move" in that situation so there would have been no reason to anticipate a fake punt, in that instance.

Has been addressed, maybe the worst coaching moment of the night. That's saying something.

The side Texas ran the fake to every K-State player was small in stature (6' 180lbs type of players), it wouldn't matter if Texas told K-State they were faking it because Texas had the bigger bodies on that side of the formation & they would open a big hole every time.

Texas runs a shield punt with three upbacks (like every other team in college football). In an obvious fake punt situation, they a) shift one upback up and b) tighten their line splits. Then c) walk a second upback up, right to the gap where they ran the fake. If there is any time to call a timeout, it's right there.

Mind numbing.

During the game i noticed that our punt coverage was pretty light on trying to block the punt, too many guys lined up deep trying to block for the return... or at least compared to Texas who somehow didn't get called for repeatedly swarming our punter and making contact several times that i thought should have been called.  Texas ST coach must have thought that comparatively we weren't keeping the punt team honest.

Yeah, we pretty much don't even try to block points anymore. But it shouldn't matter when it's 4th and 2 at midfield, especially when the punt team shifts their alignment.

just an absolutely fuckin' embarrassing display by everyone involved on our side.

But.. there was an obvious false start, fuckin' embarrassing that the refs missed it. 3:20 mark.

Yeah, it was very obvious that it was going to be a fake after the UT player in the backfield went in motion.

You're continued inability to understand the agenda is the reason why you'll never have a real job at this agency.

Now get back there and do up some photo shops for us to review lil' fella (pats head)

I thought it was a false start or at least an illegal shift.

Fan is there a rule for players moving or was that a blown call?
