After one week of D-1 Football.

Jake Waters is 29th in QB Rating.  162.5

22nd in Completion %      72.4 %

21st in  Yards / Attempt    9.7 yards

I am not saying that Sams couldn't be better than Waters (I don't know).

I am saying that I have good evidence to believe that Waters is good and is going to be really good. (especially if allowed to play a style that suits him)

I agree Waters could put up great numbers in a system with big physical guys to throw to.  Imagine him at a dink n dunk 5 wide system...  But that's not us, our line is designed to punch you in the throat, step on your nuts on the way by and only agree to stop in exchange for your first born.

Based on the game there are a few things that are usually positives that didn't look to positive

1- Waters head was always up looking down field to find an open man, that's how he got the first Touch Down, that throw was a thing of beauty!  That being said he doesn't seem to know when to tuck it and run, and to just run.

2- He didn't seem to understand checks and play action.  I thought the point of the play action was to have the run set up the pass, he ran more pa than actual running plays, on a few of them he faked to the wrong side, how many times did Finney ever have a bad snap before that game, or the line seem lost.  I think he was missing his checks.  If he could get the running game and checks down it could be great..

That being said we are set up at every other position for Sams, we can't put in a system for the quarterback without the right people to run that system.  I don't know if we have time for him to develop into what he could be before the season is lost, then have one year with him and one with Sams?  Why not start Sams now and build it for the future!

Oh, man. Waters put up way better numbers against an FCS defense than other good QBs did against real football teams. That's shocking.

We were up 14 in the 2nd half.  If any of you watertards understood time of possession, you would understand why everyone was screaming for a running qb to take over.  Look, jack throws a pretty ball - no one would disagree - but you don't run clock with incomplete passes.

Waters was 2 for 5 on 3rd  down for 5 ypc with a  interception, boy much of an argument.  If I can find a play by play I  would be interested to compare it to Marc Dunn  and  Bishops  first starts.
