I hope Snyder and his cronies don't have someone hunt down sd's IP address and do something to "keep him quiet".  :ohno:

Anyone else find themselves wanting the other posters to STFU with their weak opinions and just let SD do his thing in this thread?

SD's posts were like an ice cold beer at the lake on a sunny July day.  The other posters adding their stupid thoughts were like gnats falling in that cold SD beer.

my apologies for mucking up the thread. maybe you could take it easy with the PI next time? :embarrassed:

bubbles - not sure where my anger came from on my post, my apologies.  The PIing is not a shirt I like to wear.

I am going to take a timeout so that I can learn to play nicer in the sandbox.

Did it look like our DEs were incapable of getting pressure, or was it just disappointing relative to the two studs we had coming off the edge last year? If we can't get pressure on the QB then it could a long year with a lot of new starters on defense.

Steve Dave grew up in Kansas and went to KSU.  After college he moved to Texas and worked his way up to coaching OL at a 5A (Texas' largest division) high school.  His wife basically told him that if they were going to have kids he needed to stop coaching.  Coaching in Texas you might as well be a college coach for the amount of hours you work.

So Steve Dave stopped coaching, had kids, and then decided he didn't want his kids to go to a high school with 2500 students.  He also didn't want them to end up being spoiled, materialistic brats like most of the kids he knew in the DFW suburbs.  So they packed up and moved back to Kansas three years ago.

Steve Dave took a head coaching job at a small school in Kansas.  The high school he's coaching at had not made the state playoffs for 24  straight years and now they have made it to the playoffs three straight seasons.  He's having a great time coaching again and has really enjoyed being back in Kansas.  His kids get to see their grandparents almost daily and they live on a family farm that was homesteaded in 1881.

THIS WHOLE THREAD IS A WTF!  This isn't the Steve Dave that we all know?  The Steve Dave that I grown very fond of over the last few yrs of posting and sometimes just lurking on this site.

The SD that I know, lives in Omaha, Nebraska.  He travels alot using new credit cards.  Struck me as a sales consulant or something of that nature.

SOMEBODY PLEASE TELL ME THIS IS ALL AN ELABORATE JOKE BEING PLAYED ON UNSUSPECTING NATIVE POSTERS OF goEMAW.

DT - This group was my most pleasant suprise of the weekend.  I probably spent the most time watching them.  I think OL is the most important part of any team, but because we know what we have their I spent most of my time watching the DL, the unit I feel is the most important on the defense.

When Mo Lattimore was doing drills for the coaches he made the statement that he was going to be a really good coach this year.  I took that to mean his players are going to make him look good.  He did talk about how young the group was, but that they were just going to have to step up and be ready.

Mo said that he had two more Juco guys comming in.  Who else is coming besides Brown?  I couldn't remember.

Reed and Britz were with the ones.

Britz is a stud.  Kid is going to be really, really good for us over the next three years.  He will just countinue to get better and better.

Reed - He has really come a long way.  Eats up space and clogs things up.  He occupies blockers which can really make your linebackers look good.  He is not flashy and won't post a lot of stats, but he will do his job.

Seiwert - he has some quckness on the inside.  Plays with good pad level.  He could be disruptive.  Hopefully he can continue to add good weight.

Gates- I remember last year at the clinic I posted that I thought this kid had something.  He was a walkon, but there was just something I liked about his ability.  Then later it was reported he was moving to OL and I really started doubting my evaluation.  Gates was flat out the most impressive player I saw this weekend.  He was dominating our interior OL in the one-on-one and two-on-two drills.  He is really big at 6-3 316 and he moves really well.  I think he could add upper body strength and be even better.  I really like his attitude, intelligence, coachability, and enthusiasm.  Gates and Hood both stood out as guys that were out there having fun.

Demonte Hood - I think he could be really good.  He needs to learn to use his hands better.  He is listed at 6-0 303.  That seemed about right.  Kid is powerful and stocky.  I feel he has tremendous potential.  I used to coach near his high school (Bowie, Arlington, TX) so I chatted him up a little bit.  He seemed really excited for this year.  He seemed confident and said he was gonna be out there making plays this season.  Asked me my name and shook my hand.  Seemed like a good guy.

I think all five of these guys can play.  Add in two Jucos and I feel a lot better about this group than I did entering last season.

SD this really raised my hopes last spring
