bookie pimp is really sold on this new white QB's drop back passing ability. he also doesn't seem to think that ksu will do much zone blocking this season.

People within the program have "sold" me on Jack Walter's passing ability, whether it's rolling out, drop back, or quick strike.  The kid has a gun and I, for one, am happy to have him.  I will be the first to admit that I was "Team Sams" all along with the mindset that if Walters beats him out, he's got a chance to be very special.

Where have you come up with the fact that I don't think we'll do much zone blocking?  That's a pretty big leap.

i'm very optimistic about waters as well, but the spread stuff we'll run isn't going to look like chad may and his 7 step drops.

i said that about the blocking because there isn't any zone blocking in the video that you said is a preview of the offense.

Back on topic, I think Hubert gets draw plays this season than he has in the previous three combined.  Thoughts, _Fan?

Unclear.

Oops... My bad.  Meant to say: Hubert gets more draw plays called for him this season than he has in the previous three combined.

Possibly. We ran less than 2-3 true RB draws last year off of drop back pass action (several QB draws, especially in empty sets). If we run more than 5 this year I'll be surprised. IMO RB draws are 90s football, modern spread offense allows for other stuff to attack aggressive DEs, namely read option. I expect if anything we'll see more read option with Waters and a lot less power football (and power option), especially with the QB.

Fair assessment.  I agree completely, however I also see us running "draw-type" plays out of a pistol/shotgun look rather than off of drop back pass action.  I think we both understand that some blocking schemes will be slightly different simply based on the way modern defenses are set up and schemed now.

For those taking the comparo's completely literallly (as if it will be EXACTLY what's in the videos), you're missing the point.  I don't necessarily see Waters being under center as much as May was... Just that the route trees, hot routes, and passing game design will be more like that than what we've seen in the past 3-4 years.

This is Snyder's 5th year back and '93 was his 5th year in the program initially.  Couple that with the fact that is when our current WR coach had his breakout year and the parallels really start to add up.

Just watched all of those highlights from the 94 season. Thought it was pretty neat that after we beat Oklahoma for the first time at their home since 1970, if you look at the scoreboard, they flash a the words "Please stay off the playing field"...hahaha...were they worried our fans would tear down the goal posts like we did at KU earlier that year?...hilarious
