Grasshoppers spit black stuff out of their mouths when you catch them, and that's always made them completely unappealing to me, as far as eating them goes. I use them as fish bait sometimes, though.

You know the Wizard of Oz "museum" in Liberal? When I was like 6 yrs old I got stung by a mini-swarm of wasps while posing for a picture next to the scarecrow.

One time I put hundreds of grasshoppers in a huge old peanut butter can, tossed in a pack of Black Cats and closed the lid. 

Also my family believes that grasshoppers are evil.
