Many people when they first hear tegan and sara assume they are lesbians or they are siblings.  In fact, they are both siblings (twins) and lesbians (both have girlfriends).

Magic Johnson contracted HIV in 1991 many people assumed he was bisexual or gay and everyone assumed he would die.  In 2013 he is still living and his son has come out.

In the 60s and 70s lots and lots of peeps were predicting a 2nd ice age. Nope. They were wrong. Global warming.

In the early 21st century, many people and scientists believed in global warming.  Of course, we didn't know much back then.
