KSU track and field athletes have won 33 individual national championships including Erik Kynard winning the high jump two years in a row. That doesn't necessarily mean a lot to me, but it means about as much as if KSU had won an NC in cross country, golf, wrestling, or women's tennis at some random point in history. To me, it's only a big deal if it is in a major sport, and it happened during your lifetime.
