I love Ben. But he is NOT the #1 pick. YET. Post Rating (11 votes)
(Not based off of tonight of course) A #1 level talent does not fade as much as he does. He is a great player, but his potential is greater than his production right now.

Agreed. Which is something I really don't comprehend because Self raved about his D. The guy is 6'5/6'6 with freak athleticism and cant guard worth a lick what gives... the worst part is he will probably just go pro, go somewhere in the lottery... which is fine, but sucks when a player you know has so much potential won't realize it at KU

When he goes pro he will hardly see the court his defense is that bad.

Maybe, certainly dont wish that upon him, I hope he shores up the holes in his game, ideally by tournament time... wishful thinking possibly?

He is what the NBA says he is. He's gone, so get used to it.

What does the NBA say he is?

BTW, Self said about 2 weeks ago that BMcL is coming back for another year.

He'll be top five at least. Some combination of Noel/Shabazz/Zeller/McLemore/some random will go top five.

Either way, unless he completely tanks it and gets hurt, he'll be gone.

Maybe so, but high school defense isn't cutting it in college and certainly won't cut it in the NBA.

He is being keyed on and being exposed now that EJ can't take that pressure away. Domino effect.

His D is not near as bad as you guys all make it out to be. Compare it to other shooting guards around the NCAA and its at least avg. With his athletiscm he will easily be able to get better and better in defensively. Coming back for another yr would be the dumbest thing he could possibly do when his stock is virtually as high as it will go.

He will be slumming it in Bakerfield and Tulsa and Austin and Santa Cruz and Boise in the D-League most of the season.

Or he could be playing at Kansas.

Is he in it for one nice contract... or his he want a nice long career.

This.

I have seen nothing that makes me think Mac as a one and done will end up any better off than selby or henry.

And what do all 3 have in common?  they are 2 and 3 type guys.  The most populated and toughest gig in which to make an impact in the NBA.

Don't need to worry about defense in NBA.  It is all about putting the ball in the hole.  He will be just fine there.  Bye bye.

He is an enigma....his help defense is exceptional, his on the ball defense is pathetic....similar to Chalmers.

His offensive game has been compared to Ray Allen, but Allen works a lot harder to get open.

He appears capable of getting to the basket whenever he wants, but rarely wants to.

Seems pertfectly content to be a role player on a team that is screaming for a leader.

Glad to see our next great superstar is now being eaten by his own already. Solid job.

He's going to be a top 5 pick and he's going to be the best KU pro since Pierce. Oh and he'll be an immediate impact guy.

I think this is all a seff scheme to keep his bm from falling out of the program too early.  Look for him to have an injury and miss several games down the stretch.

Or maybe Self will make sure some more family tragedies happen.  :sdeek:
