WatchESPN App
« on: April 14, 2011, 08:58:56 AM »
http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/watchespn/id429009175?mt=8

Pro: ESPN finally comes out with an app to watch ESPN3 (plus regular ESPN channels for some people) on iPad, etc.

Con: You have to be in a select group to be able to watch:

Quote
* Bright House Networks, Time Warner Cable & Verizon FiOS TV – ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN3 and ESPNU are available to fans who receive ESPN as part of their TV package
* Verizon High Speed Internet – If you do NOT receive TV service from an above provider, but receive high-speed internet from Verizon, you will have access to ESPN3

And supposedly they are releasing Android version soon as well.

Will be great when it works. Time Warner folks (Me) can't get confirmed after the preview period. Worked pretty good the 4 hours I could use it.

Makes me very upset as a U-Verse customer who travels frequently for work.  :curse:

It does say deals are being worked out with other providers. I would have to think since Cox had ESPN3 already that it would just be a matter of time for this.

wait, how is this different than just getting onto ESPN3 via the phone browser?  I mean, if you have to be on wifi anyway.  or can you access via 3g/4g and the carrier is somehow notified that you have Time Warner or whatever?  If you can't access via 3g/4g I am now not interested.

I'm not sure on that. I'm assuming it works with Verizon 3G/4G.

Yeah, wrong thinking on my part. I skimmed it and was thinking they meant the Verizon signal, not their Internet service.

I mean, I guess the ESPN/ESPN2/ESPNU live feeds are nice.  But almost anything they are broadcasting will be on ESPN3 anyway.

True. It would just be more convenient in an app, and nice for my iPad.

same thing happened to me. I linked my TW account to my ESPN account, but it still says I don't have access to video.

I feel so elite firing this up on the subway.
"How will I recruit to Manhattan? Well, distance. And the proud state of basketball. It start there, and then daily flights to Dallas, because I'm really good at going out. Like top five good. Ask my wife. She wants me to be happy."
