We might be 10 times better than in December, but Xavier is 20 times better. I actually expect a pretty close game.  :dunno:

I respect X, and they are a good team, but how are they 20 times better?

I dunno, you don't think they are playing a lot better than when we played them?

I remember leaving that game and thinking we didn't play good at all, but Xavier just looked horrible. If someone would have told me December 8th that
Ole Miss wouldn't even make the dance and Xavier would end up in the sweet 16 I would have laughed in their face.  :dunno:

We'll roll over X.  I'm already planning for next Saturday's game vs. the 'Cuse.

If we can keep throwing big bodies at Love and have several people with fresh legs keep Crawford from penetrating too much, Xavier is going to get jump-shot-happy in a hurry. If the JYCs show up, I really like our chances.

That love dude scares me.  Sams and Kelly need to draw a lot of fouls.  Sams will need to be a better passer because he'll get doubled on the block every touch.

one bad game.  plus they always play ugly.

i don't think they've had transformative improvement.

They lost to almost every tournament team they played during the regular season.  Out of the eight tournament teams they played, they only beat Florida and had a split with Richmond.  That is really unimpressive.

That's true. But they also didn't have a single bad loss all year. Taking care of business like that is usually the sign of a pretty good team.

90-65 to Dayton is pretty bad.

Well hey, quantify it with whatever adjective you want. I wouldn't say "transformative" either, but they are a lot more dangerous now
than when we saw them. Running down their schedule results doesn't tell the story. Thanks to lots of family from OH, I've seen a lot of Ohio St. and Xavier this year. X started the season with a young team and a first year head coach.  Of course, pretty much all teams improve throughout the year. But I think I've seen enough ball to recognize when one does more of it than the norm.

Up until about mid-February every time they were really challenged they lost. They've since handled a hot Minnesota team, and completely controlled 95% of that game against Pitt. We are the more complete, better team. We are playing hot right now too (minus Jamar ). We should win. I picked us by 8. But in December I would have taken us on a neutral court 9 out of 10 games. I don't feel that way anymore.  :dunno:

Hoops math for dummies:

In the first meeting, we played shitty, and they played decent.  We won by a lot.

Therefore, assuming they've improved, all we need to do is play decent.

Jackpot.   :ksu:

Yeah you could argue that one. Incredibly, I actually saw that game. X spotted Dayton a 17-3 lead in the first few minutes. Young team on the road against a rival and those small gyms get loud as hell. :dunno:

One could also argue that at Florida was a good win though. Florida was playing decent ball by then and that's a damn tough place to win.

Florida ... that's a damn tough place to win.

You mean that place where South Alabama (kenpom #256) won just a couple months prior to that?

We played shitty, they played shitty. Shittiest game ever.

Revenge game, early in the season, at home, against young team with first year head coach. Being honest and objective and all serious-like here, I don't think you can take much at all from that game. Looking at it that way, I don't see anything at all that tells me this game won't be close most if not the whole way through.

dunno.  i mean i saw quite a few xu games this year too.  they looked like basically the same team to me.  they just played poorly against kstate.  one bad game, not an entire early season pattern of underachievement.

also, if you look at their schedule, the two best teams they faced aside from ksu, they played back in dec.  they lost to baylor and butler by 5 and 1 in a neutral and a road.  i'd argue that those are more impressive results than any game since beating florida.

Come on man. Anyone can point out an anomaly. Easily one of the tougher places to play.

Fact is Florida was incredibly average this year and probably wasn't a tournament team. They got in pretty much all on rolling FSU and UT at home and the early neutral court win against MSU.

Yep, I see right where your coming from. And if anyone just glanced at the schedule results it does look like about the same team all year long. You say you've seen a few of their games this year so maybe you think that based on their play too. But I'm saying if I never saw a score result all year long, and just watched them play, I'd say clearly this is a much improved team. And that's pretty much what I usually try to do. You can get in trouble judging a team by just running down the schedule.

And if you want to talk schedule results, keep in mind that 5 point loss to Baylor was during the Old Spice Classic that Baylor didn't even bother showing up to. In the three days prior they had lost to fracking 'Bama and took OT to take care of IONA.

Butler loss, eh, I could argue they match up well with them, or that moral victories don't mean anything, you can point those out all over the place. But really I'm not arguing schedule results. I'm just saying from a guy who's seen what I would guess is a lot more of Xavier than the average person I see a lot different team now. One that if we don't play a good, not even average game, could knock us off. I'm sure Frank is telling them something like that over and over again in film this week. Hope it sticks.

That said, I'm confident in this teams focus right now. 82-74 cats.  But we gotta bring it.

How come everyone says "Xavier played horrible last time", maybe the JYC pressure had something to do with that?  :dunno:

i was at that xavier game and while neither team played great, we just seemed faster than them. their bigs are strong, but they're slow. slow.

Remember when Jake said we were going to murder X for what they did to us? Well, I'm sure that sentiment hasn't faded
