I will never see #23 and think of anyone besides MJ. No one will.

MJ wore #45 dipshit.

#23, #33, and #32 are jersey numbers that should all be retired. #23 would be at the top though.

Agree on #23 and #33.  Michael Jordan and Alonzo Mourning are head and shoulders above everyone else.

This isn't just about McLemore, and I may piss off some of the supaSutton lovers, but why would a basketball player ever wear #23? It should be retired from the sport of basketball. When I think of #0, I will always think of Pullen. Even KU fans will think of him instead of Gooden, because he made he made a name for his number. I will never see #23 and think of anyone besides MJ. No one will. I hated Lebron before he changed to #6. I don't see why anyone would want to live in that shadow.

/end rant

Great point.  Is any other number that transcendent in a sport?

#3, NASCAR.

I know who the guy is but I couldn't pick him out of a crowd and I have no idea what his number is.

Turn in your soccer fan card.  Pele will burn it for you.

They don't really retire many numbers in soccer. Pre-1990s numbers were assigned by which position you played and changed if you switched positions or someone else played for you. Some clubs have done it for players that died during their careers.
