Option Pass Thing
« on: November 27, 2012, 10:54:47 AM »
Why haven't we done this? I'm talking about the one where the QB starts to run one way like it's an option and then he drops back to pass and we get a big pass.  I know we did one thing like it where he started to do a QB draw and then passed but not the option one. Remember when we used to do it?

Theory:  I think Bill gets bored of plays. He's always trying to do new stuff like that QB draw pass play or the play where Klein tried to throw a behind the back pass. Or the jump pass. He keeps adding to his "awesome new plays I just thought of" section in his playbook and somewhere near the bottom of that section is the option pass thing and he maybe forgot about it.

This was always one of my favorite plays when Bishop was QB.

What about that slip screen play across the middle to Quincy Morgan? That play used to work a lot, but yeah I think Bill forgets stuff maybe.

I wish we did screen passes to the tight end across the middle more often. I don't care who you are, they always seem to be good for about 10 yards.

I used to do something very similar on the early Madden games all the time, and I can guarantee you that we would score like 60+pts a game if we ran it and HB draw as they only two plays in random sequence every game.  Guaranteed.

Also, our D would really own some crap if we could run Nickle D and move oscar Smith(circa '93) outside the tackle and blitz every single play.

This was always one of my favorite plays when Bishop was QB.

Beasley was the master of this play, FWIW.  'Course that was after the millionth QB keeper option to the short side (just to set it up). Most beautiful pass play in K-State history? Ell's pump fake to James Terry down the sideline vs. OU in the Dr. Pepper. BEEE-autiful! (I'm waxing nostalgic).  :ksu: Get the Dr. Pepper, gentlemen! Beat the 'Horns!
I'm in it purely for the entertainment value.

Assumption is Klein is not overly quick footwork wise.  His option pass is acting like he's going down the line and then throwing out to the wide receiver.  I almost feel like when Sams is put in charge we will see it more often ie. sprint option, step back throw deep to the skinny post.

That play worked to perfection in the 2000 @Colo game with Beasley.

It was a beaut.

I have a feeling old ballz is saving everything up for our bowl game.  Maybe we'll see a couple of these in the Dr. Pepper this weekend.

If we are losing to UT in the 4th, we better see some Boise State crap.
