Horse track
« on: July 20, 2012, 09:47:36 PM »
Just went to arlington in n. Chicago.  I am pretty sure handicapping horses is 90% b.s. but my father-in-law seems to like it so I listened.

If you follow the same general rules as for sports betting 9no exactas/parlays/pick 3s) the return seems considering my weak ass bets/low stakes.

But oh my was the people watching fantastic.  I felt like a dirtbag for the first 5 minutes with my kid sitting there while some old burnt out harley chick smoked misty lights in his face, but soon after I realized that there were a bunch of kids there, hilarious asian businessmen, mobbed up mangino lookalikes, cougars in dresses and derby hats and jailbait teens roaming in packs while their fathers gambled away their college funds.

All in al $20 poorer, but who can put a price on this kind of entertainment.

yes, fantastic experience.  omaha has a track and when I was a pup I used to go with my grandpa and he would give me $10 and I could bet whatever horse I wanted and would blow all my winnings at the arcade while he drank scotch and bullshitted with his towny horsetrack buddies.  now we only have actual races 2 weeks out of the year but it's an OTB the rest of the year.  fun as crap to people watch there and drink dollar beers and eat dollar ballpark nachos and bet 50 cent exactas all day.

BONUS:  it's right across the street from the cheapest 9 hole/driving range (shirt optional) in Omaha.  http://www.yelp.com/biz/milts-golf-center-omaha

you can make an entire trashy saturday out of it

you're dumb if you can't see the difference between the 2 places.

but you are also dumb enough to take a baby to a movie.  so i guess you wouldn't see the difference.
