how to seed a team that loses star player to injury.

I read this http://msn.foxsports.com/cbk/story/Goodman-Purdue-may-not-get-top-seed-031210 article by Goodman on the subject, and while it is a decent article is this really a question?  Shouldn't it be all about the resume and have nothing to do with percieved weakness after a star goes down?

If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

Its something to consider when the teams are this close.

The problem with not taking it into consideration is the impact it has on other teams in the bracket, as Goodman kind of alludes to.  If a team is a 1 seed with their star player but a 4 seed or lower without, all of a sudden the other teams in their region have gotten an advantage over the teams in the remaining regions if that team still gets a 1 seed.  It may not seem fair to the team that lost the player to get a lower seed, but unless you try to accurately seed them incorporating the loss of a major player, then it's unfair to a lot more teams.

that is true.  i guess is just fortunate for the others in the bracket imho.  it the colts earn a first round bye and home field advantage then peyton manning goes down they dont give it to the patriots.

I remember Cincy getting a number 1 seed after losing Kenyon Martin.  We see how that turned out.

But I don't disagree with them getting a number 1 seed.

they actually dropped to a number two.  they were also the #1 overall team until he got hurt in the conference semis.  then i think they lost to depaul in the championship of the c-usa tourney.
