So it's 4:35 and the past two hours have been incredible. First the storm passing thru KC must have glued some power lines together behind my neighbors house across the street. Incredible light show for over 30 minutes as crap melted down...smell was awesome. 7 fire trucks responded with a few ambulances for good measure. Just as the excitement was dying down, my Brinks alarm system goes off...ear splitting. I frantically punch my code in to no avail. I quickly call Brinks and go directly to hold music. 10 minutes in and someone finally comes on and tells me I need to take the main box apart, that the power surges have mumped it up and the only way to shut it off is to pull the battery and transformer....and I have no rough ridin' idea where the main box is (the system came with the house). 15 minutes later I finally locate the box and literally rip the rough ridin' thing out of the wall and tear the battery out. As I type this, the transformer across the street is still flaring and the power continiues to pop in and out....as I look at my window, I see the orange glow of electical fire....what a night.
