When I think about a great play I made while playing a sport, it's images only. I do not add commentary about how awesome I was.

If I have an inner monologue then I’m usually tuning it out. People that talk to themselves about what they’re doing or going to do weird me out a bit.

I'm not narrating simple tasks, usually thinking about something else or if I'm relaxed it's a neverending chorus of whatever catchy song I heard last between whatever thoughts I have.

I’m actually sure I don’t have an inner monologue because my typical thoughts are so disjointed that I would absolutely hate listening to myself.

My brain is completely silent 90% of the time. I do things and know things and experience things but my brain keeps its mouth shut.

Do non-inner monologue people get songs stuck in their heads? I have a handful of songs that will be playing in my head, and I usually can't change the song on my own accord.

Also, I just saw that the Stuff You Should Know dropped an episode about inner monologues today, so that made me laugh (internally). Great thread.

A fun thing is that I only get songs going in my head when drunk/hungover. Never in normal times. So maybe whatever alcohol is doing in my head is part of this.

Are you guys just living life shitfaced? Like I’ll be drunk taking a fun drunk shower before bed and my brain won’t shut up about whatever song I was listening to. Only time it happens.

Yeah, that's my normal brain. Like I said earlier in this thread, weed makes it worse and alcohol makes it better.

I think we (scientists) have determined there is a range of drunk that makes you talk to yourself. Starting point differs though. Sober<———->Drunk you fall in the range somewhere.

Both alcohol and weed make mine go away. I'm way, way funnier without its stupid guidance.

I have an inner monologue, yes. I could talk about it for a long time but that seems like an awful lot of work and it was a long day so I’ll just talk to myself about it for a while before I go to bed.

This whole thread is making me question if I even have this inner head talking or not.

I model my life after SD and if he doesn't have one I bet I don't

I do t have an inner monologue, but I do a lot of my best thinking when openly discussing the issue, so maybe I would be better if I did?

I definitely have an inner monologue and it's impossible for me to fathom what life would be like without one.
