The last sentence that you omitted is the most damning for us:

This is why we're royally mumped for the foreseeable future.  It's almost statistically impossible not to improve to some extent.  "See!  We're getting better! Give it time."

Last year's team should not be the measuring stick...instead, it should be the team ranked 119th in rushing defense last year.
