Best case is probably just making the tournament.

Best case scenario cannot simply be making the tourney. Because if we just barely make the tourney we would be a 12 or 13 seed and 12 or 13 seeds win 2 games in the tourney every year thus making our "best case scenario" the sweet 16.  But then I got to thinking that upsets happen in the sweet 16 every year so our "best case scenario" is the elite 8 probably.

Preface: I haven't really done my recruiting homework, so I'm ignorant to what we have coming in.

I think that we will be competitive next year, and the home and homes with everyone in conference should offer us an opportunity to be around .500 in conference. Realistic expectations will be set, and if we turn out to be a decent team and climb up as the season progresses we could make the tournament. I loved watching the UNLV game, and if we played like that all year, I'd be proud of the Cats.

I think we'll find some scoring, we'll be competitive. Frank's teams will always play hard and compete.

But we have to find a replacement for Jake. When games become possession by possession games in the last 5 minutes, we pretty much turn it over to Jake, run some sets, and if we don't get a wide open look we play Jake off a ball screen at about 10 seconds and let him do something. It won the games vs ISU and NU. It didn't against aTm and CU.

Next year we'll have to find the replacement, and that will be tough. And not having someone step up to replace Jake could be the difference between what we are now and being like Oklahoma State. This will be the key.

The downfall of Wooly IMHO was not having those types of playmakers to make plays consistently in games that came down to the last 5 minutes, and too often those were losses. Jake has been doing that lately, and we'll have to replace that. Just look at OSU, Tech, ISU and even NU last night and see what happens when you don't have that.

I think we are a worse team than we should have been this year /  are playing right now.  We'll be in or around the tournament.  With the 1ish post offense, we're looking at JO, Jamar, Rodney, and some combo of Sprads, Shane, Marty, Nick (I hope :ohno:), Nino, 95, Canada, and Angel.  I don't think that is too bad.  We need to be able to steal minutes at the 4 with Rodney, which he has proven reasonably capable of as late. We need JO to continue developing, and we need a guard or three to be a threat to score.  I don't think any of that is unreasonable.  I think its a better / deeper team than the 06-07 team that won 21 games before the Dr. Pepper.

OT question...were you 8 man for a rugby team?
