Six more to play
« on: February 17, 2010, 11:09:37 AM »
Anyone else ready to melt down if the guys lose more than two the rest of the way?

I'm thinking a 5-1 finish.  Anything less than that and  :runaway:  :runaway:  :runaway:

I'd be ecstatic with 5-1 but I'm expecting 4-2.

This.  3-3 would be extremely disappointing and put us in danger of falling to a 4 seed.*

*First time I've ever said something like this as a K-State fan.  Amazing.

3 losses would be a disaster unless we won the Big 12 tournament.

2 losses would keep us as a #2 seed if we win two games in the Big 12 tournament, we we win 1 we'll be a three.

1 loss will assure us a #2 seed, and we might be able to squeak out a #1 seed if we win the Big 12 tournament by beating KU.

0 losses and winning the Big 12 tourney gets us a 1 seed.

have to go 4-2.  5-1 would be amazing, imo.  @TT and @OU are just land mines.

5-1 would be great and is def. obtainable.  4-2 is a little more likely and still respectable.  3-3 would be a nightmare.

I wonder how this will end up...

John Roberson had 12 points before leaving the game with 9 minutes remaining after running into a television cameraman.

"He's having problems with his ribs and breathing, so we won't know [his status] for a couple days probably," Knight said.

I would pretty much lose it if we lost 3 more and/or dropped a home game to a Nortard.  Losing 2 still shouldn't be the bar though, imho, because I think this team is a legitimate 2 seed.  Win out at home and lose one of the roadies and the team will be performing to expectations.  There's no reason not to expect this team to win any game left on its schedule, including ku.

shazbot! you.   :cheers:

Team loses two more games, that make 'em 11-5 going into tourney play.  That's not fire and brimstone shite, but it's not No. 2 seed territory, and anything lower than No. 2 seed is disappointment territory.

(I understand the ludicrousness of that statement, given our recent history, but don't blame me, it's where we're at now.)

Here my calc probabilities for our remaining games:

For a KSU win:

 NU = 98%
@OU = 79%
@TT = 75%
 MU = 66%
@KU = 18%
ISU = 95%

With these probabilities, here are our chances of going the following (approx.):
6-0 = 7%
5-1 = 37%
4-2 = 40%
3-3 = 12%
2-4 = 4%
0-6 < 1%

It will be interesting to see how Tech plays, even with Robertson.

Quote
Knight became so frustrated he put his tallest players, 6-9 Darko Cohadarevic and 6-10 Robert Lewandowski, on the court at the same time in hopes of sparking a little defense. But Cohadarevic said the players had already mentally surrendered the win.

"We just gave up in the second half," Cohadarevic said. "We had no passion whatsoever in the game.

"It's always sad when you have a coaching staff having more passion for the game of basketball than the players."

Did we ever take time to pat ourselves on the back for going 4-2 in the stretch that began with Texas, for which most of us expected and would have accepted a 3-3 mark? Or did the fact that one of those losses was at home to OSU dampen what would have been considered an overachievement? Or was it the ensuing Texas trainwreck that tempered the joy?
