In 2009 Edwards was part of the broadcast team that won an Eclipse Award for the Belmont Stakes telecast on ABC, as well as an Emmy nomination for the Breeders' Cup on ESPN. Edwards has also been consistently named as one of the top 10 female sportscasters by several media outlets.
A native of Tenafly, New Jersey,[4] Edwards spent about 10 years on the racetrack as an exercise rider, apprentice jockey, and trainer in New York and New Jersey before initially getting into television in 1994 as an in-house TV host at racetracks in Maryland. In 1995 Edwards was hired by ESPN when that network started the show "National Best 7", on which she was a studio analyst.[5] Eventually, the show was replaced with NTRA 2day at the Races, which was on for 5 years. During that span, Edwards also began reporting on remote horseracing shows; as well as branching out into sideline work on college football and basketball.
