Is it reasonable to start expecting better recruiting soon?
« on: December 18, 2010, 10:42:04 AM »
The exposure of being on TV almost every game, the prestige of being a top 5 team, the new practice facilities, the new 'K-State brand' (IE: OOD, Frank's intensity and all the air time it gets, new uni's, etc.)

Seems like the pieces are there to bring in some highly ranked guys.  Is it reasonable for us to expect our staff to start landing top 50 guys again?

They don't buy players like ku does.  Might be tough unless you are willing to Selby a player for a few hundred Gs.

Not yet.  We're still really a blip in the radar when it comes to the large scale of CBB.  It would take like someone like AR-T getting ranked in the top 50 for us to get a top 50 in the next couple of years IMO.

wally doesn't count?  DCA ties or current performance disqualify him from helping with this?

every kstate recruit mentioned for 2012 is either top 150 (or soon to be), or the next dirk nowitzki.  3-4 of them are top 50 or right at 50ish.

the recruiting already has been elevated.

I think people are expecting a 2007 kind of year again which isn't going to happen, as long as we keep getting top 100-150 guys with some top 50 guys sprinkled in we should all be very satisfied.

I think we should expect better classes. Frank needs to start recruiting players based on skill, and not whether they are hispanic or not. I, for one, am tired of getting mediocre 3 star players that most top 25 teams wouldn't even look at.

GRCOAT was all about Hugg's time off.  Will not be replicated.

Realistically, I would be happy do this and get someone much better than his ranking or land a true 5 star once every four/five years.

we have 2 top 150 guys, granted they are in the 140's.  and AR-T looks like he might sneak in there too.  i wish we could expect more/better, but apparently we can't.

It is marginally better.  We'll see if the staff lands one of the top 50 guys.

And no one is expecting 2007 to happen again.  Well, no one with intelligence.
