Although negative expectations may have the benefit of softening the blow when a negative event occurs, they also have the cost of making people feel worse while they are waiting for that event to happen. Three studies suggest that the cost of negative expectations is greater than the benefit. In 2 laboratory experiments and a field study, people felt worse when they were expecting a negative than a positive event; but once the event occurred, their prior expectations had no measurable influence on how they felt. These results suggest that anticipating one's troubles may be a poor strategy for maximizing positive affect.

Nah, just have a blast, every day.

Smile.

Laugh.

Pat a friend or family member, in real life, on the back.

Admire a tree.

Look
deep into someone's eyes. (may be scary, but give it a shot)

Defy typical rational behavior in favor of generosity and kindness.

You know...

There's this passage I got memorized. Ezekiel 25:17. "The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the iniquities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is The Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee." I been saying that crap for years. And if you heard it, that meant your ass. I never gave much thought to what it meant. I just thought it was some cold-blooded crap to say to a [redacted] 'fore I popped a cap in his ass. But I saw some crap this mornin' made me think twice. See, now I'm thinking, maybe it means you're the evil man, and I'm the righteous man, and Mr. 9 millimeter here, he's the shepherd protecting my righteous ass in the valley of darkness. Or, it could mean you're the righteous man and I'm the shepherd and it's the world that's evil and selfish. I'd like that. But that crap ain't the truth. The truth is, you're the weak, and I'm the tyranny of evil men. But I'm tryin', Ringo. I'm trying real hard to be the shepherd.

PW is the master at what he does.

I think we are all scared of the inevitable. We have been through this many times at Kstate. Every media outlet will jump on the bandwagon that is KSU basketball then as soon as one thing slips up, they jump off the bandwagon and leave us with a huge KITNs.  :ck:

I love my KSU Wildcat basketball team.  I smile everytime I think of Jamars adorable yell when he makes a layup shot and gets fouled.  I get giddy with excitment when I know there is a game on that day.  It's like Christmas morning the day of a JYC's game.  I like Pullens almost "I don't care about anything" look on his face during the game and in post game interviews.  So I'm glad you said something PW because I want to share my excitment for this years KSU Basketball cats.

We were a lot better when PW started this thread. I'm sure he is mirroring Catzacker levels of pessimism this time around.
