So...the guy who wrote this story (and his editor) knew that he (and probably his editor) would be fired if his story contained incredibly controversial claims that he couldn't support with evidence, right? And if the University of Kentucky knows that the rumors are false and cannot be substantiated by the writer, they have no reason to dangle a carrot in front of the newspaper in the form of a "we probably won't sue if you remove the article" offer, right? They would just say, "This is not true, and we're going to sue you, but you'd better remove the article so we don't sue you quite as hard," right? OK...just wanted to see if everything was as obvious as it seems.
