Does anyone else get the feeling that the inmates
« on: March 21, 2016, 04:16:39 PM »
are running the asylum? These are scary times around here. You have a lynch mob going after Weber who is a proven coach and screaming to put in their own man who still has a great deal to prove and suddenly the media picks it up and runs with it. Next thing you know, we're hearing rumors that Weber is gone? Oh my goodness, this is a situation where, if true, y'all better be careful what you ask for: You may get it.

I can't believe the owner/editor of GPC...

posts an article about how Underwood should be getting a chance here now all of a sudden after a short run in the tourny....don't get me wrong, Im by NO means a Weber lover, but he is still the head coach. What kind of message does this spread to our current team & fans?? Are we supposed to just jump on the bandwagon of Underwoods & write off any potential for next season?? WTF??

No. There are only like a handful of people who want to replace oscar with Brad right now.

I want to say this is a copy/paste from GPC, but it's wacky so I'm just not sure.

Seeing how there seems to be an overwhelming majority of respondents who disagree with my statement, I will reply generically to all of you. Please understand that I'm aware that some responses are more rational than others and, in any case, I know full well that almost all of you if not all of you love K-State as much as I do and are just frustrated as heck that we have missed the tournament 2 years in a row. I guarantee that this bothers none of you any more than it does me. Basketball is my favorite sport and K-State is my favorite team. Ok, so with that:
There is no coach in college basketball that I know of that works harder at recruiting than oscar Weber. No one. I have no statistics to back that statement but only observations. This is HUGE for success at K-State. When Altman was here and when Kruger was here, the greatest frustration was that our players were NEVER of the caliber of other teams in the Top 25. The exception with them and even with Martin was that both hired, early on, assistants who BROUGHT recruits with them. The problem with that strategy is that it comes with an expiration date. When Lon saw the expiration date coming, he left. Lon went on in his career to develop a competitive edge. Familiarity with the NBA, familiarity with Chicago and Florida (2 hotbeds for recruiting). Fred Hoiberg did the same thing. Martin counted on the DC Assault and Shakey pipelines. Eventually those dry up or the cost of maintaining them becomes too high in terms of probation risk.
Weber avoids all of that through hard work and getting in on kids early to establish a relationship. The guy earns his $2 million (if that's possible ) by landing in an above board manner, 4* and underrated 3* recruits. That's critical at K-State where you are in KU and Texas conference. I know Brad can coach and he might be able to win but will he do the most important thing needed to maintain it: recruit. Weber can flat out recruit and coach. Underwood may be an even better coach once the players are on the floor, but can he recruit those players? It requires ridiculous commitment and hard work. I'm just not sure.

Common rural logic mistake.  Working more hours = working harder = better at your job.
I got a guy on the other line about some white walls
